Default Any pre-90s shows in syndication in your area?

Very few shows from before 1990 seem to be in syndication. Where I live we get five:

Honeymooners, Odd Couple, MASH, Three's Company and Taxi. They also used to show Burns and Allen and either Lawrence Welk and/or Ed Sullivan on a UHF station.

Actually 6 if you include A Different World which had its first 2 1/2 years in the 80s.

What older shows air in your area?

About 10 years ago a local channel aired reruns of Ozzie and Harriet and The Real McCoys. Last year Good Times and The Odd Couple aired on 2 different local channels. The only old series I see on right now is MASH and You guessed it The Cosby Show.

Why is Cosby on so many channels? it's on like 3 cable channels and local syndication? i like it as much as anyone but that's too much. It hasn't aired locally in my area in about 4 years though.

Except for A Different World, all of those old shows come on in the middle of the night. I remember in the 70s when old shows weren't all relegated to wee hour slots. I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke came on in the early evening opposite the news in what I guess is the synicated equivalent of prime time (5-7:30 pm). Also not that long ago Odd Couple and Honeymooners and Star Trek came on against the 11 o'clock news, another prime time for syndication timeslot. Now they air multiple episodes of some show that is either still being made (Friends, Simpsons, Raymond) or was on in the late 90s-early 2000s (Steve Harvey, Seinfeld)

Good Times and The Odd Couple came on at about 2 or 3 in the morning. Ozzie and Harriet and The Real McCoys came on between 6 and 7 in the morning. I remember when the old shows came on early. When TBS first started they had a lot of the old shows on early. I remember Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle on before supper and I believe they even aired Ozzie and Harriet at one time. Now this summer they're going to air Sex and the city. Times have changed.

I don't understand how Sex and the City and South Park can get syndicated when they're filled with so much language and scenes that the FCC would consider indecent for broadcast viewing. Wouldn't they have to edit these shows to the extreme so that they could air?

As for changing times, Jerry Springer and other shows with heavy sex themes air at all hours of the day so now the general assumption is that the parents are responsible for what the kids see. I'll say this, I sure am glad I'm not a kid today because the shows you can see at any hour of the day today would have me constantly in heat if I were a young person. And I know parents who have no problem with their kids watching the sexy shows.

They used to show a lot of older shows here (Good Times, I Love Lucy, Amen, etc.).

On weekdays, my local stations air Roseanne (few years in the '80s), A Different World (ditto), and Charles in Charge.

On weekends, Dear John and The Andy Griffith Show air here.

Uh...there's a lot of Andy Griffith reruns.....

That's about it, besides Cosby/Different World, which I'm fast becoming convinced airs everywhere.
