Default was RF treated poorly towards the end of TC?

often times when the kids had a scheme they wanted to pull, they'd ask "but who would be stupid enough to fall for that.." *short pause* than they would all chime in "mr. furley!" then good old mr furley would walk in and the kids would want to use or trick him..

i used to just laugh this off, but i mean if this were real life.. i think the kids were a bit too mean to him.

another example is when jack was home and furley would come in, jack would often times want to get rid of furley, because the mere presence of furley was an annoyance.. jack would simply spout off "not now mr. furley!" come on..

my theory is, furley was obviously not a ladies man, he was just a lonely guy, who thought of the kids as his "kids" and thought of jack as a son.. these guys were all he had as a familly. however all these people can do is not appreciate him, take him for granted, and try to dupe him and or get rid of him!

this is the case with other loved ones in my life too though, i mean not to those extremes, but i don't always appreciate them.

i just wish the kids weren't such jerks to furley.. he loved those guys!

what do you think?

I agree. They were very mean to Mr. Furley, and they took him for granted when he considered them his closest friends.

He probably let them treat him this way because compared to the way others had abused him, such as his brother, they were probably much nicer to him.

Although the kids could be cruel, there were times when they showed that they cared about Furley, like when they thought he was going to commit suicide in "The Goodbye Guy" and were willing to do anything to stop him.

I think I didn't like Mr. Furley. Because he was making fun of Jack and was a LOSER. And let's face it, when a character who is a loser makes fun of another character is usually not funny.

Default re..

haha that's a crazy reason! : ) i love RF's ironic humor, and i think you forgot about how much of a winner furley was as a rich texan in navy blues- haha

I thought RF was all heart personally, and that's why i like him so much. he has such a great loving nature about him. he's understanding and warm. once you break through his shell that is. he was such a sensitive guy that i actually am completely going to contradict this thread - LOL but when Jack and the girls told him he was too macho for the real estate agent who was just after his property, you could tell that there was love.

Another time was when Jack got a job at an expensive French restaurant (they thought he was the chef, but he was really the busboy). Janet was talking to Chrissy on the phone saying she wished she had someone (a sucker) to take her there. Then in walks Mr. Furley. She cons him by saying the restaurant is a big pick-up spot for women and gets him to take her there.

Good for him for not wanting to pay those prices. She had to eat bread and water!
