Default The Return of Wizard of Oz

Does anyone remember the movie Return of the Wizard of Oz? It came out in 1985. I was only 6 when it came out, and I remember watching it and being scared. That was one disturbing movie! People's heads came off etc. I wouldn't recommend that movie for children. The Wizard of Oz was cute, but the sequel, The Return of the Wizard of Oz, wasn't NEARLY as good.

And a poll:

Which movie did you like better?

I love both movies but the original is best. Return to Oz is good in it's own way too but it's alot different.

It's actually called "Return to Oz" and I have loved it ever since it first came out. I'm a huge Oz fan (how many of you have read the books? Hmmm?) And "Return to Oz" is much more loyal to the spirit of the series than that 1939 musical that had a similar title.

I love Judy Garland (she's in my avatar), I love the movie "The Wizard of Oz" but I can't forgive it for it's cold-hearted murder of a wonderful book that nobody knows.

Dear God I am CRAZY about this movie. I'm actually listening to my MP3s of the score as I type.

I adore this film so much. I like it because it's much truer to the spirit of the books, because it's very cool visually and has awesome characters like Mombi, Jack Pumpkinhead, Tik Tok...everything about it is inrecible. The Wheelers gave me nightmares as a kid STILL scare me even as a 20 year old. Mombi's changing heads thing was so cool, frightened me as a child (I think most of this movie did) but it's genius. I also thought little Emma Ridley was so beautiful as Ozma.

Great movie, I give it 10/10. I like it BETTER than Judy's "Oz". Don't get me wrong I love the musical, but being me RtO is far more my style. Just amazing! Although it's billed as a sequel, try not to compare it, look at the movie as it's own, and then maybe you'd appreciate it more if you aren't much of a fan.

I like them both, but you can't beat The Wizard Of Oz. Actually, it's kind of unfair to compare them, because they're really two different beasts.

Does anyone know how many Oz books L. Frank Baum wrote?

I am in the minority but I could never get into the 1939 musical. I've watched it several times and it just did not appeal to me, especially the Munchkin part and the musical scenes. I like Return to Oz better. It didn't feel so kiddie and I think that was the problem with the 1939 film.

I think I'll read the books. I think I have The Wizard of Oz. I know I have Ozma of Oz and The Road to Oz.

He wrote 14 and was in the middle of the 15th when he died. That book was later completed by another writer under the title "The Royal Book of Oz."

I enjoyed this film as much as the Wizard of Oz. I used to have a lot of the books, Jack Pumpkinhead was always my favorite character.
