In season 1, Dan's mom was never in a mental insitution and she was played by another woman. But isnt it wierd when she visits in season 9 she says she has been in an insitution for 20 years!!

Hehe. You should put your post aobut Dan's mom in the thread I started about inconsistencies in the show.
Dan's mom Audrey was played by the woman who was 'Lonna' in the sitcom Three's Company. She was the one always trying to make the moves on Jack Tripper. The second Audrey was played by Debbie something or other. She was once married to one oof Elizabeht Taylor's husbands. Her last anem escapes me at the moment. She was a big actress in the 50's and 60's. I think there might be such inconsistencies because maybe there was a change in writers. Who knows... |

I think Roseanne had many inconsistencies and the reason as someone said is probably because the show had so many writers over it's 9 season run. and maybe those writers hadn't watched the show before so didn't know about certain things in past episodes.

I liked the first mother better but she looked and dressed kind of young to be Dan's mother. The second mother was a bit more convincing and looked on par with being an elderly woman.

I never ever watched this show in prime time so the over the top stuff in year 9 doesn't bother me. I don't feel cheated or betrayed by the far out storylines or the plot incosistencies. I liked the episode with Debbie Reynolds as the psycho mom who's trying to kill Dan. I think it is one of the very last episodes they did and I believe it's a take-off on some movie that that actress was in around that time playing a controlling psycho-type mother.
Ann Wedgeworth from 3's Company played Dan's Mom in an early holiday episode but psycho Debbie impressed me more. Anyway, chalk up psycho Debbie as a chapter in Roseanne's novel. |

I liked the second mother better as an actor but the first mother better personality wise, I didn't like the second mom trying to kill Dan.
