Title: One Look Said It All

Disclaimer: These characters aren't mine. I'm just borrowing them for a while!

Author's Note: This is a Re-write of a fic I did for Third Watch called ‘Speechless’ and Law and Order: SVU ‘When Words Aren’t Enough”

Spoilers: None

Summary: Only a few things in life can make you speechless

Rating: R

“Okay, CD I want you to take a deep breath, hold it and give a big push,” the doctor instructed. She couldn’t believe this was happening she never thought she would have any kids. But here she was in labor with her second and last child. She and her husband of two years already had a sixteen month old. Kiara.

Kiara was definitely a surprise, they weren’t even married a full year when they found out about her. She was so scared to tell her husband that she was pregnant she didn’t know how he would reacted she was so surprised when he all but jump for joy when she told him.

“Good, good,” the doctor coached bringing her out of her thoughts and back into the pain that was childbirth.

“I can’t do this anymore,” CD wailed.

“Yes you can,” Her husband encouraged. “Just a few more pushes.”

She shook her head violently. “No! No I can’t, I’m too tired and it hurts!”

“Candace, Candace listen to me,” the doctor commanded. “I know it hurts, but the baby’s head is almost out. You’re doing wonderfully. If you keep pushing we’ll have this baby out in no time. “

Taking a deep breath CD beard down, pushing harder than she did last time. The pain was so unbearable and tears began to fall down her cheeks. She knew she had to be crushing her husbands hand but she didn’t care he did this to her. He was the one that want another baby after all.

“****!” She yelled unable to stop it from coming out of her mouth “It’s hurts!” she cried

“Okay relax, the baby’s head is out,” the doctor said. “It has lots of light hair.” He smiled. “Okay, give just one last hard push and you’ll get to see your baby,” the doctor coached.

CD took a deep breath then gave her last push her all, she stifled a scream and pushed harder then she thought she could. Until she finally, she heard an infant cry and the pain subsided.

“Congratulations! It’s a girl!” The doctor said placing the baby on the CD’s stomach.

“Hi Hannah, hi sweetie” CD cried out with happiness and lean down and kissed the top of the baby’s head. Then she looked over at her husband and he had the same expression his had on his face when they first had Kiara. The one of true happiness; the one she never saw until they were together, the one that she mirrored every time he was near her.

“Thank You.” CD said and leaned over and kissed him. “Thank you so much.” She whispered and kissed him again.

“Dad would you like to cut the cord?” A nurse asked when they pulled apart. Still speechless from the birth of his daughter he shook his yes and took the scissors that would separate his daughter from her mother. After the task was taken care of, he placed a kiss on the forehead of his baby girl. He looked up at CD with tears in his eyes, unable to say anything.

“I love you too Nate.”
