Default The Nanny Reunion on Lifetime!

Coming soon...

Lifetime Television has announced a major expansion of original movies, reality programming and specials for the 2004-05 season, highlighted by a 50 percent increase in Lifetime Original
Movies from 12 to 19 -- a single-year record for the network.
Along with movies starring actresses such as Dana Delany, Mariska Hargitay, Lauren Holly, Mary-Louise Parker, Kathleen Quinlan and Debra Winger, this figure includes Lifetime's first-ever original miniseries, scheduled for 2005.
In addition to the expansion of its movie franchise, Lifetime will
increase its reality programming with a new Friday night reality block featuring the popular sophomore shows "Merge" and "Head 2 Toe," the fall premiere of a new series from the producers of "American Idol" titled "How Clean Is Your House," along with returning favorites "What Should You Do?" and "Lifetime's Speaking of Women's Health."
Specials range from "The Nanny Reunion" and "TV's Greatest Sidekicks" to "TV Movie Superstars: Women We Love."

Yay, a reunion!! I expect it'll be similar to the GG and DW ones. That ought to be really cool. Thanks for the heads-up, Pav! Now if we could only get the show on DVD.....

I don't think it's going to be that kind of a reunion. It'll probably be more like the Golden Girls and Designing Women ones we've already seen on Lifetime, where the cast gets together to talk about the show and shows clips.

The info was taken from an article at Yahoo:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040415/nyth138_1.html

I hope that it's true that they'll do a reunion show. I would love to see the cast together again! I think it would be fun if they would get them together to show some clips and see them talk about the show! I hope there are more detailed info soon! Can't wait to learn more!!

I've a question about the Golden Girls and Designing Women reunion shows. Did the cast sit together and talk about the show and introduce some of their favorite clips or was there a host who did interviews? Maybe you can tell a little bit more about it, Kristen? I wonder what kind of show they did? I hope they don't have a Nanny Marathon with some of the cast members being the hosts! That would be disappointing!

Sure I can, Rill! I'm a bigger "Golden Girls" fan than I am of "Desiging Women," so let me tell you about the GG reunion.

It was a special. The cast was never physically together, but they each took turns introducing sets of clips arranged around a "theme." For example, clips dealing with each character's bestmoments, scenes about men and dating, famous guest stars, etc. I think this is what the "Nanny" reunion will probably look like. Of course, I'd much rather that they were all in the room together rather than doing it one at a time!

Hope that gives you some idea what to expect.
Kristen
PS--Lifetime usually does "best-of" marathons in the week leading up to the reunion, to kind of promote it. So we might see some of that, too.

Post Reunion shows

Yes! That gives me an idea! Thanks! I will check at the Lifetime website to see what they'll do! I hope they'll have the reunion show soon! Too bad they didn't have the cast of the Golden Girls together but it's fun to hear them talk about the show, I guess. Sounds like fun! I hope they'll do something like that with The Nanny! And I really hope they'll have *all* of the main cast members!

In light of this discussion, I decided to pull out my tape of the Golden Girls reunion. There were a couple things on there that I forgot to mention. In additon to introducing clips, each of the women did interviews where they talked about their characters and their fave moments, etc. There were also interviews with the producers and directors, too. And there were outtakes!! I think I can safely say that if the TN reunion follows this format (Which I think it will!), the fans won't be disappointed.

Cool that you checked your Golden Girls tapes, Kristen! Thanks for letting us know! I *really* would love to see such a reunion for The Nanny. Nevertheless there was a message at the other board by a person who wrote to Charles Shaughnessy's webmaster. He (she?) let the poster know that Charles wasn't contacted yet about a reunion show. I guess nothing is really planed yet. I think it's odd that Lifetime would announce such a show and would not contact the cast first. I hope they'll do such a show but I've doubts now. I guess we can only wait and see...

I saw that post, too, but it's nothing to worry about. The impression I got from that Yahoo article was that it's all very much in the "talking" phase. I'm sure Charlie will be approached very shortly. Plus, a lot of times celebs are busy and they're slow to update their official sites. Right now, all we can really do is watch and wait.

I just read a comment at Benjamin's website about the reunion. He said:

"Hey all,

There has been much talk about a Nanny reunion being in the works. I can't really comment on it, but I will say keep your eyes open as you never know what can happen in Hollywood...

Love to all,
b"

This gets more and more mysterious IMHO!

I saw that, too, and I meant to post it here but didn't LOL. Glad you saw it anyway.

I think what that means is, Lifetime hasn't approached Ben yet. From what I've read on his site, I can't see any reason why, if they did ask him to be in it, he would turn it down. Of course, that's JMO, but I really can't imagine him not wanting to do it. In his posts, he's always spoken highly of his castmates, and he obviously enjoyed doing the show. Really, all we can do now is wait.
