Default Hansen Case of Murdered Twins

Since Donny Hansen was acquitted....who do YOU think did it?

Do you agree with Donny Hansens parents choosing to disown him since they feel he is guilty?

I'd like any opinons and if anyone has an more details on this case I would like to know. Thanks.

Default Another wrongfully acquitted murderer

I completely concur with your assessment in the other Hansen thread, canadianmysterygrl.

Evidence where there should be no evidence. Lies when there should be no need for lies. "Coincidences" that defy mathematical probability, for Hansen to be innocent. The parents know much more than we do, and I trust their instincts.

Donny Hansen has to be one of the most pathetic suspects ever mentioned on UM. Hiding behind a new name, disguised voice and blacked out face all while proclaiming his own version of absolutely 100% not guilty.

I saw that case last night, for the fourth time total.

The case always gets to me emotionally, especially at the end of it when they show the video of the two murdered girls.

The deaths of Julie and Jill Hansen was broadcast in Australia last night. The circumstantial evidence suggests that Donald Hansen was the perpetrator. The empty fuel tank left at the front door and concealing the rifle used to shoot the twins in the shed and then attempting to retrieve it later. Its highly unlikely two perpetrators would have taken Donald's rifle and ammunition from his motor vehicle and then entered the premise and emptied fuel on the floor throughout the mobile home and shooting the twins without disturbing him sleeping on the couch and then leaving the crime scene. It sounds too contrived.

It was a poorly planned crime and most probably planned on the spur of the moment. He seems to lack intelligence and the crime does seem to correspond with that level of intelligence. The perpetrator thought burning the mobile home would destroy the evidence and the investigators would never recover a corpse from the crime scene and burn patterns. The death of the other twin a few weeks later seems to have saved Donald Hansen from being convicted of a double homicide. It was most probably motivated by anger and jealousy towards the twins. He most probably was resentful of his mother and her husband. The twins living in the comfort of home and having the attention of their parents, while he was most probably struggling in Fortuna, California.

I have a hard time disagreeing with you on that. While I strongly believe that Donny Hansen is guilty as sin, I don't think he acted alone.

At one point during the fire, Donny was heard yelling at someone to leave. And according to the segment, two unidentified people were seen running away from the burning house.

Plus, it seemed way too convenient for any "total stranger" that Donny Hansen just happened to have had a shotgun and a supply of gasoline and ammunition. If a total stranger were to randomly break into someone's home with the intention of shooting its occupants and torching the house, more than likely, he would have brought his own gun and gasoline to do the evil deed. I don't see how a stranger would always just assume that such items would be stored in the house that he is breaking into.

It was also mentioned that Donny was seen hiding a shotgun before anyone even knew that a crime had taken place. The idea that he would do so as some sort of precaution (in case he got accused of any crime related to the house fire) is bull. More than likely, it was because he knew that a crime had taken place.

Donny remarked that the only way the murders of the Hansen girls would ever be solved is if someone's conscience gets to them. Well, let's hope that one day Donny's conscience will get to him to the point where he'll end up telling the whole truth.

While the circumstantial evidence certainly does seem to point to Donny, I'm not entirely sure he did it- and I'm really puzzled as to what motive he (or anyone else) would possibly have in doing such things to this family! I feel very sorry for the parents who appear to believe he did do this and have had to make the painful decision to disown . .. but what else could folks with consciences do?!

I have watched this episode several times (Hansen case) & find it to be both fascinating & very tragic. I have tried, tirelessly, to find out more about this case & have not gotten very far. I did find out that the fire took place on 11/14/1986 in Willow Creek, CA. I have contacted several CA. papers & libraries to see if they can help me find out more about this case. I am certainly willing to share info with others who are interested in this case. I agree with the previous post that describes Donny as pathetic. He appears as guilty as a person can be. If he's innocent, why appear in silhouette & disguise his voice. I feel so bad for those parents, but I believe they are correct & are making the correct choice (disowning Donny), as painful as it must be.

I had spoken via email with the person who originally posted the topic of the Hansen twins and claimed he had a girlfriend who was a cousin of Donny's. I thought you might be interested in knowing, the story he had heard from Donny or Donny's family was that the girls hung out with people that were into drugs (one guy with long hair) and that the day the second twin died in the hospital, supposedly a man closely resembling the long haired friend was seen running from the hospital.

Let me also add that I personally don't believe that story. I think Donny played in the role in their deaths. That is probably just a story concocted to take attention away from themselves. I just thought you guys might like to hear it.

I think the prosecutor said it best: If you're going to commit murder, don't you bring weapons with you? How amazing that the gas and shotgun were both supplied by Donald Hansen!

Well said Chad, I couldn't agree with you more. I also found that to be very convincing of Donny's guilt. I am still trying to get additional info about this case through newspapers, libraries etc. I will post anything I can find out. If anyone has anymore info, I would love to hear it. I think this was one of the best cases that UM ever featured.
