shouted his dislike for other races and looked down on people who wasn;t as fortunate as him. Example, in first episode, George tells Louise that her friend Diane should look up to her since she has moved up to the Eastside-LOL George of 1975 put the W in WILD.

It was a different time. People were captivated by seeing someone as honest in his racism as George was. No way this could be done on TV now. I think even on cable this kind of character wouldn't play.

Oh definitely. He was really abrasive in the beginning. It's more than just race though. There was a show in the 80s called Buffalo Bill with Dabney Coleman playing a very rude, racist, manipulative sexist who hosted a talk show like Donahue and treated everyone like s**t . It was cancelled although the critics loved it because the guy was such a creep. TV viewers don't really warm up to lead characters who have nasty dispositions. Archie Bunker and Fred Sanford were racists but still likeable.
