Ok, well since this month is the month of my birthday, I have to register my car by April 30th. Well, here's the problem. We sold our house and will be moving to *hack* Maine. But, theres another problem. My friend Rebecca offered me way back in December to move in with her and her Dad so I could stay in this area. Thats good and all, but they wanted to charge me $485/month. For a room. All my friends and stuff said thats way to high when I could live with my parents for free. But I really dont want to move all the way up there. Itll be so boring. Seriously its like Boonesville. Well, Rebs told me that their lease runs up at the end of June and theyll be moving to Bradford Mass. Thats fine, thats only about 25 min. where I am now. But thats in Mass. So its like.. meangya, do I register my car in Maine, NH, or Mass?!?! I was thinking of going to Maine until the end of June and then move in with Rebecca, that way I dont have to move twice, which would make sense to me. Itll also give me some time to save up $$$. I told her lastnite I can afford $300/month because while my only bill I have is car insurance, Im also gonna want $$ for myself so I can have fun- I only work part time. Also, since I have a 'special' license plate for Happy Days, itll cost me even more money to register it. Speaking of special plates, Im thinking of changing it to something for Clay.. would it cost more money to change it from Happy Days to Clay or would it cost the same amount of money regardless because its my own? As you can see Im very overwhelmed right now and I feel so lost. We have to be out of this house by next Wednesday and up in Maine so Id have to talk to work about transferring for a couple months, and then its like.. Rebs wants me over tomorrow so we can all discuss it.

Ok, I dunno if this helps at ALL, but I'm gonna tell you what my government teacher did.
So, he and his wife moved down to NC and her parents lived here in MD. They didn't want to have to change the plates, change the insurance so they sold their cars to her parents for $1 and then went to NC with them, even though his parents in law owned them. And then when they moved back up to MD they bought them back from their parents for $1. Now, I've heard in some places you can't do that, but I dunno, I think you can. So is there anyone you really really trust in NH you could sell it to and not have to bother with registrations? |

1. Moving sucks!! I am so sick of boxes I could freakin scream.
Anywho.. I'd say register in in NH, then reregister it in the new state. You *might* be able to wait until next year to do it. I think it depends on the state. |

Maine is a boring state. My uncle just moved back down here from there to Alabama(quite a contrast, LOL) and he said he hated it.

It's probably cheaper to register your car in Maine. My niece and her father live in Mansfield, NH, and their insurance rates are through the roof. |

Mansfield is up north right? Yah Im southern NH.. about 20 min. from Mass and Im on the coast.. its nice. I live in a small quiet town, but Im close to the bigger towns and cities if I ever want to go out. Maine is just.. UGH. I mean, its actually border line of NH-- part of the road is in NH.. we're right by Freedom NH.. but it still sucks. It will be boring and we have like.. 3 neighbors (one of them being my brother and his family). Its about a 90 min. drive from here so it isnt like I can commute everyday or whatever. I could, but the gas wouldnt be worth it. |
