Default Would you ever NOT buy your favorite show on DVD?

The show being uncut, unedited, and in a complete season set.

I'd probably buy my favorite show regardless of the circumstance, but of course I'd definitely prefer it be uncut. I have a dvd recorder and have a near-complete collection of "A Different World" one of my all time favorite shows. Still, I'd likely buy the official release when it comes out just because I like it that much, and try to find a taker for my dvd-r's. If the release is as it should be, a complete, uncut season long set, I'll buy all my favorites. Collecting my favorite shows on dvd is my latest obsession.

It depends. I like Everybody Loves Raymond but I wouldn't buy it on DVD. Same thing with The Simpsons. I can't think of any classic shows from the 50s-70s that I wouldn't buy, it would be the 90s shows onward that I wouldn't buy. I also won't buy "whodunit" shows like Murder, She Wrote, CSI, CSI Miami, Cold Case, etc.

I completely understand that.
Thats probably why I have no Dramas on DVD.
although I do plan on buying some.

But then again -- I am going to get "Survivor - Season 1" but thats one of my top 5 shows, so its a different circumstance.

There's only about 10 shows I want to buy that I consider "must have". Other than Three's Company, I most likely won't buy a DVD set if I can still watch it on TV and would rather spend the money buying a show that I can't see everyday.

If I really love the show I would save up to buy it no matter what the price is

One of my favorite Shows currently is 'Big Brother' and when BB#3 was available on Dvd, I wanted it, but then I seen the price and said, I'm happy with the tapes of the show I have. lol

I buy all my favorite shows, except I have been less than excited for the South Park Season DVDs which for some reason I haven't bought any yet even though its one of my favorite shows. I feel like buying season 4 though... And season 6 definately... I'll probably stop buying the Simpsons on DVD when it gets to season 10 onwards. If its a bad season I won't buy it.

I would buy my very favorite shows (Family Ties and Mama's Family) on DVD uncut, not uncut, whatever. It wouldn't matter. With Cheers I only plan to buy specific seasons with my favorite episodes. With my other favorites, it would just depend on how badly I wanted to see the show again.

Ditto with the recorder. I can put whatever I want on DVD, but I'd still buy the studio release.

Further proof I'm nuts: I get Hogan's Heroes on DVD thru Columbia House, yet when it gets a season release, I'll probably still buy it. And I bought The Dick Van Dyke Show Season 2 just for 2 episodes.

I doubt I'll ever buy Simpsons Season 1. I hate that season.

It depends on how well I really like a certain show, now Boy Meets World-DEFINITELY, cause of how poorly Disney treats it, and the fact that I can have the banned episodes on DVD anytime I want to watch them, even if the DVDs were edited, it couldn't be as bad as Disney butcheres the show

With some shows, that have been running for a looong time, it's a good idea to have the first and last seasons, just so you can see how the show progressed. Simpsons, Frasier, Mash, Friends, even Raymond - all of them have started in obscurity, but later defined themselves, and worked out a formula. It's a good way to study a show.

But having all the seasons - that's just money down the drain. With all the reruns, who needs to have all 20 seasons? Especially is 18 of them have been "mainstream"?

I'd buy my favorite shows if they were on DVD uncut and uncensored.

One reason I haven't bought the latest Married with Children is because they left out a couple of lines and scenes. I haven't bought any of the South Park DVDs since I'm hoping that they'll be rereleased uncensored. If Chappelle's Show was released uncensored, South Park should get the same treatment.

I'd only buy a DVD with removed footage if the show was off the air and it's the only way I can watch it. For example I bought the Space Ghost DVD, which had stuff taken out, since those episodes are never repeated anymore.

Hang on a minute - South Park was censored? I thought it was released on DVD the way they were created - without the bleeps. Are you sure the DVDs are bleeped? That sucks - I was thinking of getting the first couple of seasons, but since it's the same as the stuff in reruns on Comedy Central, I might as well stick with the reruns.
