Lightbulb If I were the TV Land & Nick@Nite Programmers, I would . . .

make TV Land a network for shows from the 50's & 60's and Nick @ Nite a network for shows from the 70's & 80's. Fox Family and other superstations take care of the 90's so then we would all get our fix of our favorites. But they didn't ask me so well, . . .

I'd do that too. I would also make N@N a full 24-hour network and limit each TV show to only only 1 or 2 episodes in a 24-hour period so there wouold be room for more shows.

If I was the programmer of both Nick at Nite and TV Land, I would first redirect both networks to the way they were between the years of 1998 and 2000. Nick-At-Nite would no longer be "Modern TV Classics" but be called "The Place for TV Hits" (classics) and TV Land would be reserved for shows not seen that often (classics). Both networks would air original classics and not any of this phony "modern tv classic" stuff.

Show Roster for Nick at Nite:
1. Bewitched (1966-1972 seasons ONLY)
2. The Brady Bunch
3. The Dick Van Dyke Show
4. Gilligan's Island
5. Happy Days (1974-1980 seasons ONLY)
6. The Jeffersons
7. I Love Lucy
8. Laverne & Shirley
9. The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour
10. Mary Tyler Moore
11. Three's Company
12. The Wonder Years

Show Roster for TV Land:
1. Adam-12
2. The Addams Family

6. Bonanza (The Top 100 Best Episodes ONLY)
7. Dennis the Menace
8. Dragnet
9. Emergency!
10. Family Affair
11. Flipper
12. Get Smart
13. Green Acres
14. Happy Days (1980-1984 seasons ONLY)
15. Here's Lucy

17. I Dream of Jeannie
18. The Jeffersons
19. The Love Boat

Well I like the "Modern TV Classics." There are some very fine shows that are classifed that way. I would keep the networks virtually the same. Except I would cut the Cosby Show back to just two episodes between 9pm and 1am. But basically, I can truthfully say that N@N and TV Land are attending to my television needs at the moment (this IS very rare and probably won't last...) As long as Family Ties and Cheers air on one or both I will be fine.

I will finish this post later . . .
Even though its set in the 70s,
The Wonder Years is just as modern as Cheers, Family Ties, and even The Cosby Show.

In fact -- its even MORE modern than those.

But the difference is . . . IMHO, The Wonder Years fits better with the original classics than any of those shows you mentioned above. For example, the fall 1998 Nick at Nite line-up look like this:
"The Brady Bunch", "THE WONDER YEARS", "Happy Days", and "Laverne & Shirley" - - - it fitted in just PERFECT!
I don't see any one of shows you mentioned above fitting in near as well as "The Wonder Years" in that particular schedule.
