Default This one bothers me!!!

Why do we get suffocated with all the details about Gary after Lucy married him and we hear NOTHING about Edie. I have never even seen a picture of her. ALl I know is that she was married at the time she started seeing Desi and she died of cancer about a year before Desi died.

I don't know enough about her. But I know W A Y more than I want to about Gary.

You know that if you keep that up, we'll start thinking you DO NOT want to be President of the Gary Morton fan club! He was married to Lucille Ball, that's why we kept hearing about him. But i totally agree with you about Edie, and her son, we so seldom heard anything about either of them. I don't think i ever saw anything besides her wedding picture to Desi in Las Vegas with Jimmy Durante and his wife and the owner of the hotel, Jack Entratter.

The only thing I know about Edie is that she was a Cigarette girl at the racetracks and had met Lucy and Desi about 20yrs before. There are no photos of hers besides the one from the wedding day

Yeah, but we can't seem to find out anything about the kid that Desi helped raise, i forget his name, you know sometimes these people just don't want to be in the limelight. I think his name was Greg. Check with harry Carter at the Lounge, he knows everything. Edie was married to the owner of Kal Kan dog food, and Greg's last name was Hirsh. She and her husband used to be neighbors of Lucy and Desi's at Del Mar i think, that's probably where the relationship started, LOL! Edie suffered a lot, she accepted Desi's daliances which went on all through HER marriage also. She just asked that he keep her in the style she was accustomed to, so Desi gave her expenses and a gambling allowance. However, since he did not invest his Desilu money and instead lived off of the capital, that didn't last very long, hence the reason he UNretired. And then when they both got ill, they had to mortgage their properties.

Splains right. We barely heard about Desi after I Love Lucy, so that's probably why we didn't hear about Edie.

Behind the scenes is the key word there. I didn't say he didn't do anything, I just said he wasn't in the public eye like Lucy was.

Yes, his stepson's name was Greg. I think he was already a playmate of little Desi and Lucie's when their father got married to Edie. I also know that Edie started hanging out with Lucy and Desi a lot more in Del Mar when her marriage was breaking up. Lucy considered her a girlfriend. Desi enjoyed her company because they both loved to fish and loved betting on horses. Also, Lucie was very close with Edie and considered her to be one of her closest friends until the day she died. Ya know, I've seen pictures of Gary and Desi together. I wonder if pictures of Lucy and Edie exist?

1980...

Yeah, looks more like Viv than Lucy, but very attractive nonetheless, thanks for the great pic, never seen it before that i recall. All i remember is that wedding picture in Vegas. And Desi at Lucie's weddings of course.
