Default complete guide to primetime network and cable shows

that huge paperback that's about 5 editions old about tv shows is the only book i've seen get 5 star raves from almost everyone on amazon.com. a few gave it 4 stars because maybe a very old show was missing. i've read it in bookstores and libraries but never felt compelled to buy it. how many of us own a copy and if so which edition? would you buy the new edition that has info for shows up to 2003 if you already own an older edition?

I didn't feel the need to get the latest attention because I was more interested in reading about shows from 1970-1990. I know everything that happened from 1998-to right now-LOL

I've been getting the book every time a new edition comes out. I can't believe how high the price for that book is getting now.

I paid $24.95 for the seventh edition and $27.95 for the eighth edition not counting taxes. The earlier books I bought were $20 or less.

I was interested in buying this book and I was wondering how much information does it have for each show?

Hi AntLox:

This is a book that I'm sure anyone who posts here would like a lot. For a specific show they list when the first and last episodes aired, all the timeslots, the actors who played all the regular and recurring characters and the years they were in the show and a general breakdown of what the show was about including most of the major continuing storylines. The newer shows that have moer continuiing storylines have longer breakdowns. Some fill up more tan half a page. The book also has the top 30 shows for each year and their ratings, the emmy winners, the fall schedules for each year and trivia like who was in the most series and all the shows that ran for 6 or more years. It's like this site in book format.

I have three versions, the latest, the one before it, and either the first or second edition, from 1980. They're invaluable when it comes to my site, because, along with TV Guide Fall Preview issues, if a show is forgotten/short-lived enough, the only information I may be able to find on it comes from these books. I keep two upstairs and one downstairs. Odd.

My dad has the very first edition, which was like 1979. I have the 1995, 1999 and 2003 editions.

Not only do I own this book, but I managed to get my name listed in the acknowledgment section of the 20th anniversary edition as one of the readers who sent in corrections.

WEll maybe i should send in a correction. That Out of the Blue is not a Happy Days Spinoff. That was the only error I noticed.
