If I could take over any channel, I guess I'd go for TV Land. I would go for either TBS or USA, two channels that need a change. But I would end up turning them into TV Land anyways, so I might as well just take TV Land and make a few changes.
First off, we air all of our shows UNCUT. No logo in the corner of the screen and no annoying special effects during the shows (You know, "Coming Up Next:" those kinds of things). I'd get a TV Land mascot (Probably an animated animal of some kind) which would host every show, saying which episode is next and maybe giving some interesting trivia about each show. Since we will air all 435 episodes of "Ozzie & Harriet", we will air that show four times a day. All four airings will be different episodes, so if you miss one ... sorry. 6:00am The Lucy Show (1962-1968) 6:30am The Lucy Show (1962-1968) 7:00am December Bride (1954-1959) 7:30am December Bride (1954-1959) 8:00am Our Miss Brooks (1952-1956) 8:30am Our Miss Brooks (1952-1956) 9:00am The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet (1952-1966) 9:30am The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet (1952-1966) 10:00am I Love Lucy (1951-1957) 10:30am I Love Lucy (1951-1957) 11:00am My Three Sons (1960-1972) 11:30am My Three Sons (1960-1972) 12:00pm The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966) 12:30pm The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966) 1:00pm The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959-1963) 1:30pm The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959-1963) 2:00pm Dennis the Menace (1959-1963) 2:30pm Dennis the Menace (1959-1963) 3:00pm Make Room for Daddy (1953-1964) 3:30pm Make Room for Daddy (1953-1964) 4:00pm The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966) 4:30pm The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966) 5:00pm Mister Ed (1961-1966) 5:30pm Mister Ed (1961-1966) 6:00pm McHale's Navy (1962-1966) 6:30pm McHale's Navy (1962-1966) 7:00pm Car 54, Where Are You? We change our schedule every two months, since I hate how TV Land seems to change their schedule alot. These are the shows that are up for being added to our lineup at some point. If I could just work at a channel, it'd be N@N. I'd beg them to change their schedule.

TVLand...all times central
First of all, I'd drop the following shows, with reasons listed: "Gunsmoke" (1955-1975) - I'd trade it to Hallmark for the first show on the next list. "Leave it to Beaver" (1957-1963) - Has been on too long and is highly overplayed. Let it rest for five or so years before bringing it back. "Happy Days" (1974-1984) - Has been on TV for wayyyy too long and almost always has great timeslots. But it does have legions of fans, so I'd give it to The-N, since it would fit well with their teen-oriented programming. "Bonanza" (1959-1973) - Gets plenty enough airtime on Hallmark. "MacGyver" (1985-1992) - Airs on Spike TV, and at a very good time. No need to be on TVLand. "Cheers" (1982-1993) - Just give it back to NAN already because I'd prefer this show four times a night over TCS or FH. "The Munters" (1964-1966) - Been on for a long time. Would sell it to Hallmark. "The Addams Family" (1964-1966) - Send it to Hallmark with it's sister show. "The Waltons" (1972-1981) - Let Hallmark have it full-time. "I Love Lucy" (1951-1957) - Give it a sweet going away marathon and put it away for at least two years. I love Lucy, but I love watching her OTHER shows too! Next, the shows that I'd add, with reason/suggested time slot... "Little House on the Prairie" (1974-1983) - Air it at 5pm every evening. "Alice" (1976-1985) - I said it before and I'll say it again: EVERY NIGHT AT 9 AND 9:30!! "Three's Company" (1977-1984) - Has been treated like crap by NAN for most of 2002 and 2003 and definatly in 2004. Air it in primetime, and a 48-hour marathon would be nice. "One Day at a Time" (1975-1984) - Hasn't been seen in years! Air it in Twice as Nice. "Charlie's Angels" (1976-1981) - Once a day, seven days a week. "Hart to Hart" (1979-1984) - Same as CA. "Flamingo Road" (1980-1982) - Once a day on Saturday and Sunday. "Mary Hartman/Forever Fernwood" (1976-1978) - Twice a day at 10 and 10:30 Monday-Friday nights. "Family" (1976-1980) - Never aired in a looooong time and would go perfectly with... "Eight is Enough" (1977-1981) - Both shows could air in the afternoons with FAM at 3 and EiE at 4. And now, THE KITSCHEN! I'd change it back so that the shows weren't following a certain theme. Just pick short-lived shows and air them until it ends, then replace it, and on and on and on. The first set of shows would be... "The Ropers" (1979-1980) "Angie" (1979-1980) "Gloria" (1982-1983) "Electra Woman and Dyna Girl" (1976-1977) Better Living Through Television This would be black-and-white shows ONLY that are NOT part of the regular schedule. First set would include... "Donna Reed Show" (1958-1966) "The Real McCoys" (1957-1963) "Dennis the Menace" (1959-1963) "The Patty Duke Show" (1963-1966) "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" (1959-1962) "The Lucy Show" (1962-1966 ONLY) And that's it... |

GSN...I'd make the damn thing watchable again. No more split screen, crunched end credits, no more making viewers watch the same damn 4 commercials over and over and over and over and over again, no crap like Spy TV or Fake a Date or Kenny vs. Spenny, I'D FIND THE MONEY TO BRIBE CBS TO SHOW THE PRICE IS RIGHT. And hell, I might even find room for The Joker's Wild and Tic Tac Dough, even though I hate those shows. And why? Because I actually LISTEN TO VIEWERS.

The Sci-Fi channel, where I would bring back their lineup from 10 years ago, plus other shows people haven't been able to see elsewhere. Voyagers! would be included and Incredible Hulk fans would never, ever have to worry about it being dropped again.
The obnoxious amount of commercials would also be history. That'd be a must, first and foremost. As for the movies already being shown.. I'd work on those, too. Not to mention getting rid of those damn informercials they run all night long. |

TV Land..a dedicated a week-end (42 marathon) on shows that you have not seen in a while, like One Day at a Time or Alice, or shows that were not very successful, (that lasted only one to two seasons) like Baby, I'm Back or Angie...

I would be president of N@N/TV Land in charge of buying and programming new shows.
I would do the following immediately: The Cosby Show would be cut back. I would swap Full House for Growing Pains on N@N from ABC Family Three's Company would be on TV Land and not on N@N. Immediately cancel the launch of "The Addam's Family" and pick a descent show to launch. And more that I haven't even thought of yet... |

If I could work for TV Land I would overhaul the channel into 3 separate channels one for older sitcoms, on for 70s, 80s and 90s sitcoms and one for dramas. I would then make Nick at Nite a channel mixed with older and newer sitcoms.

I would take over N@N and kill the double takes.
immediately. and would make the schedule look like this: 9:00PM Full House 9:30PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 10:00PM Who's The Boss? 10:30PM Family Ties (taken from TVLand) 11:00PM The Cosby Show 11:30PM Roseanne 12:00AM Coach 12:30AM Wings 1:00AM Cheers 1:30AM Cheers 2:00AM Wings 2:30AM Coach 3:00AM Roseanne 3:30AM The Cosby Show 4:00AM Family Ties 4:30AM Who's The Boss? 5:00AM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 5:30AM Full House Three's Company would be moved to TVLand in exchange for Family Ties. Coach, if Im not mistaken -- is still "owned" by N@N. With this -- 9 shows air between 9:00 and 1:30. And every show only airs twice a night, therefore making no single show played more than any others. |

I would also like to be the head of programming of ABC where I would create an ultimate lineup (of current shows) that looks like this:
Tuesdays 2004-2005 8:00PM My Wife and Kids 8:30PM 8 Simple Rules 9:00PM According to Jim 9:30PM George Lopez 10:00PM Alias |

After watching "The Making of The Mary Tyler Moore Show" -- I realized that theres nothing Id rather do more than to work in television.
But another job Id like to have is to be the President of one of the big 3 (NBC, ABC, CBS) and to have a rule "no DUMB shows". |
