Guys,
Mr Ed is not only funny, but some episodes are VERY TOUCHING. I think there are two very important theoretical elements that made this show such a success: 1.) It shows the kind of special bond that owners can have with animals. Yes, I agree that much of the chemistry between Ed and Wilbur was more similar than different. They loved each other and cared about each other. The show I think teaches a lot about showing love and respect to animals. 2.) The show also works on the theory that if animals COULD convey human language that many of the thoughts and feelings that they share with their owners are virtually the same and are more similar than outsiders will want to believe or accept. Researchers show that all animals have a language of what it is liked to be loved, or neglected, or frightend. Sometimes it are only the owners of animals and their families that really understand what a special animal bond REALLY is. It was very humanistic that Ed and Wilber had so much fun together and really cared about each other! Jack |
