Default Why is it called 227?

Hey, I was just searching on this website to find other TV shows, and I came to this one. I was wondering, why is this show called "227"?
I was just wondering.
Was is this show about? Is it good?

The number of the APT Building the characters lived in on the show was number 227.

227 was a funny show about the tennants of a Washington, DC apartment building. The building's address was 227. There was a big 227 over the building entrance. Right below was the stoop, where many of the show's scenes took place. 227 ran for 5 seasons, from 1985-1990. It aired on NBC on Saturday nights. It currently airs on TV-One. As you can tell, it's one of my favorite shows Hope I was able help you some.

Also, 227 was a play too.

Even Marla Giibs, herself, starred in the play.

Marla was in the play? Are you sure about that? I knew that Christine Houston wrote the play but I don't have any recollection of Marla being in it. Who knows? I could be wrong. Where did you hear that information from?

This is what I found.

The original play, 227, had been written by Christine Houston of Chicago, and performed by Marla Gibbs' own Cross Roads Academy, a local community theater troupe in Los Angeles.

I didn't think Marla starred in the play...I thought she just bought the rights of it and turned it into the show.
