Angry What Happened to the Jammin' Oldies Format?

I looked up on numerous website that they stopped playing Jammin' Oldies. Here are the following:

1. Jammin' 105 in NYC stopped playing Jammin' Oldies and shifted to an adult urban format and then switched to Power 105 and a new call letter WWPR playing all hip-hop & R&B.

2. Rhythm 94.3 in the Hudson Valley switched from Jammin' Oldies to regular oldies like Cool 94.3 three years ago and then switched to country music a year later and it became Kicks 94.3 with a different call letter WKXP (originally known as WBPM).

I missed all these stations playing Jammin' Oldies.

I don't know, BrooklynGuy. I've given up on radio altogether.

It's sad. A once-wonderful medium has turned into a corporate nightmare.

The Last DJ
(Petty)

Well, you can't turn him into a company man,
you can't turn him into a whore.
And the boys upstairs just don't understand anymore.
Well, the top brass don't like him talking so much,
and he won't play what they say to play.
And he don't wanna change what don't need to change.

There goes the last DJ
who plays what he wants to play
and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey.
And there goes your freedom of choice,
there goes the last human voice.
There goes the last DJ.

Well, some folks said they're gonna hang him so high
cos you just can't do what he did.
There's some things you just
can't put in the minds of those kids.
As we celebrate mediocrity
all the boys upstairs wanna see
how much you'll pay for what you used to get for free.

There goes the last DJ
who plays what he wants to play
and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey.
There goes your freedom of choice,
there goes the last human voice.
There goes the last DJ.

Well, he got a new station down in Mexico
and sometimes it would kinda come in.
And I'll bust a move and remember how it was back then.

There goes the last DJ
who plays what he wants to play
and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey.
There goes your freedom of choice,
there goes the last human voice.
There goes the last DJ.

Now I can listen to WEBE 108 and listen to the Saturday Night Dance Party (Studio 108) from 7:00 PM - Midnight. They play jammin' oldies too.

we used to have a "jammin oldies" station, and then it changed overnight to a "smooth r&b" station. I ended up taking the station off my dial, it was nice to have a radio station that played all the classic disco and funk, etc.. and then it went to all Boyz II Men and Luther all the time

Jammin' 105 was a jammin' oldies station has been around since late 1998. They took it off in 2002 for hip-hop music.

Jammin' 105 in NY was the only station I made it a point to listen to. They played alot of the old soul and r&b music I remember growing up, and they even got me into songs I hadn't been familiar with. That was one station where I didn't have to turn the dial because of playing a song I didn't want to hear.

I have copies from Jammin' 105 and Kingston's Rhythm 94.3 tapes that I copied a few years ago. So sadly they took off Al Bandero's "Jammin' Party" show with trivia, fun and games. I missed Al Bandero's show on both Jammin' 105 and Rhythm 94.3.
