That's a good question, all I am sure of is when the series started in 1974, the show was set in 1956. The reason I know this is because in "Not Making of a President," they are involved in the Eisenhower/Stevenson election of '56. I guess there is a good chance that by that season it was 1959. As you know, "Laverne and Shirley" was set in 1959 when it premiered in 1976.

I asked because i saw the L&S New Years Eve 1959 ep and was wondering was the time periods consistent between both shows.

When Ritchie graduated from high school he mentioned in his speech that it was the end of the 50's, so we assume he graduated in 59. The music was from the early 60's shortly afterward.

Keeping in mind what I said in my previous post about "Not Making for a President" being set in 1956, during the first season, HD appears to be inconsistent. In the 1975 episode, "Fonzie's Friend," the party Richie is throwing is to welcome Hawaii into the union, which would place this particular episode in 1959. Confused? So am I.

I'm confused too because i saw an ep of L&S yesterday and it was in the 80-81 season and it showed a clip in the opening credits saying Happy New Years 1965. Wasn't it just 1960 in 1977-78?-LOL

These shows were not worthy of such analysis.
