Question I want to, but I am kind of scared? Questions?

Internet Dating
I have seen alot of people over the Singles Boards. A few of them I have thought about for awhile now. I was thinking of joining and asking them out. I am kind of scared though. I have heard alot of Horror stories. I have also heard some success stories.
I was just wondering what are some of the success and some of the Horror stories you have heard of?
Positives- You get to see what they look like beforehand. You can find out if you have the same interest. Reading their profile is kind of like you are talking to them.
Negatives-They might not be using their real pictures. They might be lying on their profile. They could be a crazy psycho.
Thoughts or suggestions?

Your a grown man, ya gotta make your own decision

Pray about it, that's the best advice I can give you. This might be God's way for you to meet that mrs. Right, but if not, you don't wanna do it. Pray about it. I met the person God set aside for me online, of course it was because a friend gave me his SN and we just snow balled from there. I love him, he loves me. Super yay. Pray about it, if you feel it's right, go for it.

Make sure you've chatted with them some so they know a little about you before you ask them out. and if they accept it, dont be too obsessive, i have a stalkerish person on here thats way too obsessive and it scares the hell out of me.

Just for the record, my cousin met someone on the Internet, and eventually ended up marrying her.

They got divorced a year later

Well, so far my experience with people over the internet is that a lot of them are liars. Not all, but many. They turn out not to be what they seem at first. It's sad, really.

I'd say, if you choose to do so, be very careful. IMO, I wouldn't do it. But just be careful, if you decide to.

I would never ever do it. That doesn't mean that it can't work for many people. One of my best friends met someone over the internet and they've been together for about 4 years and are doing really great.

If you decide to give it a shot, just be really careful. But then you already knew that.

Sarah,
You said not to be to obsessive. What did that person here do to
make you scared? How would I know if I am being to obsessive?

Well, IMO, I would never try internet dating. I've heard way more horror stories than success stories.

Here's a little story for your personal enjoyment.

My mom's cousin's daughter was a great student and athlete. So great, in fact, that she got a full scholarship to college. She had everything going for her, but at the last minute, she gave up her scholarship to run off and marry her "internet boyfriend" in western Canada. Ruined her whole life. Since I heard about that, I have been completely against online dating.

I'm finished now.

I couldn't do it I like to meet people in person cuz I can get a vibe from them whether they are a good person or not you can't get that from the internet and there are way too many psychos on the internet and you don't know if they are really telling the truth about themselves.

He writes poems about me, says he 'loves' me, PM's me and just says something like "i safety pin" he acts like we're freaking married. Try to avoid doing things like that too quickly.

Also things I would be turned off by:
Calling more than 5 times a day.
Making way off plans to the future.
Wanting to know where you are all the time.
Taking Control.
Any others guys that would turn you off?

Question Questions to ask them?

How many questions should you e-mail (ask) them with out sounding to stalkerish or desperate?
The main ones I would ask are
1)What is your name?
2) Do you go by any other names?
3)How old are you?
4)What are your interests?
5)What is your hobbies?
6)Are you working or going to school?

Then see what they answer and see how it goes from there.
I would also tell them if they had any questions they wanted to know to go ahead and ask.

Yeah, that sounds okay. I don't really know how these things work. I would probably include things about me in the email and then go ahead and ask them to tell me about themselves.
