Out of Richard Deacon's most famous Tv roles, who do you like better? I will not choose, as Leave it to Beaver fans will pick Fred and Dick Van Dyke Show fans will pick Mel, probably.

I know him much more from TDVDS so I have to go with Mel! He's so perfect for the role and always funny.

It's a close call, but I'll vote for Fred.

They were quite different characters, almost the exact opposites from each other. Fred the brash, often obnoxious loudmouth who thinks he's always right and Mel the reserved, quiet and not always so sure of himself man who allows himself to be bullied by Alan and ribbed by Buddy were portrayed equally brilliantly by Mr. Deacon.

I'd have to go with Mel, but only because I've only seen him on "Leave it to Beaver" a few times (which he continued to do even after he started playing Mel Cooley)
