Has N@N ever shown this episode before? Last night was my 1st time seeing it on N@N, although I saw it when NBC aired it.
A few things-- I wished N@N did the same opening that NBC did. N@N just did the cold opening used in later seasons. When NBC aired it, they did the opening scene of Helen signing the lease for the lunch counter, then they went into the theme song used in the earlier episodes, and everybody who was on the show at the time were included in the credits. Question--how come after Helen was finished with her audition, the lady who was judging the audition says to Helen, "Thank you, Ms. Chappelle." Ms. Chappelle? Why not Mrs. Hackett? I know, I'm looking too much into this!! That was another thing I always noticed--even after Helen married Joe, Roy still called her Chappelle. OK, that's it!! |

Yeah, I wondered about the "Chappel" thing, too. I think the reason Roy calls her that instead of Hackett is that there are now 3 Hacketts: Brian, Joe, and Helen, so it would be confusing LOL.

A lot of women these days keep their maiden name when they marry, although I thought Helen had taken Joe's name when they married.
Maybe Roy just called her Chappel out of habit. |

Just a guess here, but perhaps Helen still uses "Chapel" as her professional name, since that is how she'd always been known in orchestra circles?

However, we all know that she wasn't exactly a "hot property" who was highly sought after by orchestras! After a while, the name of "Helen Chappel" could have become something of a joke among the professional musical community....or at least someone to avoid hiring! Changing her last name to "Hackett" couldn't have hurt her THAT much professionally....in fact, as Kristen mentioned, it could have even HELPED her! |
