Default If You Could Ony Watch One Season of I Love Lucy, Which Would You Choose?

Mine would be the season they were in Hollywood. I love those most of any I Love Lucy and can watch them over and over. I taped that season, beginning with the Ricky's screen test episode, on TV Land the first time they ran them because they were supposedly uncut (although I noticed an edit in one episode. More on that below). I messed up though by recording them at VHS EP speed so the quality isn't wonderful, but still I watch them more than I've watched the 1st season DVDs! I also recorded the Lucy in Europe episodes the same way and enjoy them too.

In its first run on TV Land, they said the episodes ran uncut and were almost 40 minutes long with commercials, so I taped the Hollywood and my second favorite theme, Lucy in Europe episodes. I noticed one edit in the episode when they were in Ohio. When Mr. Skinner told them about the all you can eat turkey dinner for $1 and as they were leaving said "How can they serve all that for $1". Mr. Skinner replied "It's impossible". TV Land edited out the next line, "That's why they went out of business" and picked up with "And there ain't another thing clean to Cinncinnati". I wonder why they cut that 5 seconds out of the show and if there are any other edits that I didn't catch?. The premise doesn't completely make sense without that line. Not a big deal, just something to gripe about after they claimed the show aired unedited!

Oh, definitely the fourth season ('54-'55). A lot of my favorite episodes are in that season, including the Hollywood episodes.

Yup, number one was the worst and season four the best. At the rate they're going, we should all have that one by 2019.

Thumbs up

I honestly don't have a particular favorite. I love all of the seasons about the same. To be quite honest, it's hard for me to pick just one season since all of the them were real good. And that's no joke.

Season three is my second favorite. It had some great episodes like "The Million Dollar Idea," "Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress," "Equal Rights," and "Lucy Tells the Truth."

If I could only watch one season, it'd be the fourth. I love the Hollywood episodes. Season five is pretty good too, it contained a few of the Hollywood episodes and the European ones (which I love as well). The only season I don't really enjoy is the first.

Exclamation Season 2!

I prefer Season 2 with Lucy pregnant(or should I say, Enceinte?)

Tough question! I love all of the seasons. If I could only pick one, though, it'd probably be season two.

Yup, they started to really get a grip on the characters by the end of season one so two was very very good! The first few shows of season one are horrible, which is normal when a new series has to establish what's gonna work and be funny. Once those things were established, Lucy is looney, Fred is cheap, Ethel eats, the laughs kept coming.

And you forget that Desi replaced the kinescope with film and that he used the three camera technique that it's still used today. If Lucy wouldn't had married him or at least used his ideas we wouldn't be talking about the show today

Other shows were filmed in the three camera technique, he ADAPTED it to the comedy show, and his GENIUS was hiring the people who actually made it happen. We are here because Lucille Ball is the greatest star and a legend who had to constantly build up her hubbies to the world as they were constantly eclipsed by her many talents. It was a different world back then, women weren't supposed to run things, but she did, and i admit them getting together was a great thing for all of us, but she would still have made it without HIM, he however would have dissapeared a LONG TIME ago. But i also admit, i'm glad they got together and produced something that has lasted so long.
