Default Mariah Carey CD ?

I can't find the post so I'll ask again. Does anyone know if Mariah Carey will be coming out with a new CD soon? I'm just wondering. Thanks.

She is working on a new album that she claims will have a Butterfly-esque feeling, which will be released somewhere around 2005.

another Butterfly-esque cd?! why? Right now would be the perfect time to return to the stylings of her first album, updated to 2004 standards. Her debut album is timeless.

am I the only person who misses the Mariah of the first 4 albums and can't stand the Mariah from Butterfly onward?

I really miss the old Mariah. I still like everything she has done, but not nearly as much. Before Rainbow, I liked every song she had recorded. Now there are a few songs on each of the 3 albums after that I'm not too fond of. I REALLY hope she cuts down on the rappers with this next one, but I honestly don't see that happening.

Actually, I consider Daydream as her best album, (I think that was her fifth CD,) it was also marks the beginning of the end of Mariah.

I agree with you 1000%. I loved Mariah before Butterfly. If she would knock the crap off and go back to being a SINGER instead of a hip hop wannabe, I'd probably start buying her stuff again. Oh and lose the whispery vocals while you're at it please! And no more butchering of 80's rock songs either woman!

oh ok, I meant Mariah Carey, Emotions, Music Box and Daydream when I said first 4 albums, my bad.

Daydream was when she started flirting around with altering her sound, but at that time, she was still Mariah enough that those who loved Music Box and Mariah Carey were into it. But it seemed once she came out with Butterfly, she lost one audience and gained another.

Mariah and the music industry as a whole were better before she started working with the hot rappers, because after she did it, J. Lo and company did it too, and now 9 out of 10 songs on the radio are "r&b diva and rap sensation" tunes

Yeah, I think you forgot her MTV Unplugged album, and yes, I completely agree with you.

Yes, Mariah is working on her new album right now. She said that a few of the songs that she has done so far, kind of reminded her of Butterfly. But that doesn't mean it will be just like it. It will hopefully be out by the end of 2004.
