The TV Land Kitchen has sunk when they took Batman off.
![]() No changes to the regular schedule? At least that means Green Acres and Carol Burnett are safe...for now... Bewitched Marathon? Can't be bad? Friends Finale Stunt? I don't like Friends, but this mini-marathon sounds interesting. I've never seen the Ferris Bueller TV show and have also never seen The Wonder Years, Who's The Boss, or Just the Ten of Us. Frasier's ending? Oh well, at least the DVDs will still be coming. This mini-marathon's not bad either, but I would have picked different eppies.TV Land Moguls 70s Part I is disappointing. Although another airing of Chuckles the Clown doesn't hurt. ![]() TV Land Moguls 70s Part II is much, much better. Odd Couple's "Password" !!!! Mork & Mindy's crossover pilot! And, I've never seen Charlie's Angels or Starsky & Hutch. TV Land Moguls 80s is blah. A-Team is good, but that's it. TV Land Moguls 90s is not remotely interesting. Now, June is looking very interesting... |

Wow, all in all I'm pretty happy with the specials for May (and April). Those look pretty good. Nice to see at least one episode of so many of those unused shows (Mork and Mindy, etc.). One episode is better than nothing at all I guess.

On the whole, I'm happy, but I am a tad bit disapointed in some things...
"Friends" thingy... 6:00PM/10:00PM Ferris Bueller (Friends' Jennifer Aniston): "Sloan Again Naturally" 6:30PM/10:30PM Just the Ten of Us (Friends' Matt LeBlanc): TBA 7:00PM/11:00PM The Wonder Years (Friends' David Schwimmer): "Dinner Out" 7:30PM/11:30PM Who's the Boss? (Friends' Matthew Perry): "Roomies" 8:00PM/12:00AM Family Ties (Friends' Courtney Cox): "Invasion of the Psychologist Snatchers" 8:30PM/12:30AM Cheers (Friends' Lisa Kudrow): "Two Girls for Every Boyd" It's no secret that I hate "Friends," but I'll be watching this for sure. Never saw FB, but I love the movie, and the fact that the first two hours of programming are shows not currently on either TVLand or NAN makes me VERY happy. TVLand Moguls the 70s 10:00pm All in the Family (TV Land Mogul: Norman Lear) #2 Writing The President 10:30pm Jeffersons (TV Land Mogul: Norman Lear) #1 A Friend in Need 11:00pm Maude (TV Land Mogul: Norman Lear) #1 Maude's Problem 11:30pm Sanford and Son (TV Land Mogul: Norman Lear) #1 Crossed Swords 12:00am Mary Tyler Moore (TV Land Mogul: Grant Tinker) #127 Chuckles the Clown 12:30am Bob Newhart (TV Land Mogul: Grant Tinker) #1 Flying The Unfriendly Skies AITF, I expected, MTM too. Great to see Maude and Bob join in the fun also, but five Lear shows? FIVE? I think they should have tried to get "Rhoda" and/or "WKRP in Cincinatti" to even it out. TVLand Moguls the 70s Part II 10:00pm Happy Days (TV Land Mogul: Garry Marshall) #1 All the Way 10:30pm Odd Couple (TV Land Mogul: Garry Marshall) #58 Password 11:00pm Mork and Mindy (TV Land Mogul: Garry Marshall) #1 Pilot 11:30pm Mork and Mindy (TV Land Mogul: Garry Marshall) #2 Pilot 12:00am Starsky and Hutch (TV Land Mogul: Aaron Spelling) #1 Savage Sunday 1:00am Charlie's Angels (TV Land Mogul: Aaron Spelling) #4 Angels in Chains 2:00am Love Boat (TV Land Mogul: Aaron Spelling) #1 Captain & The Lady/ One if by Land/ Centerfold HD I expected, but not OC and M&M, both of which I am happy about. S&H doesn't make sense because thay aired a whole four hour marathon of it in March. They could have got another Spelling show, and I'm sure you all know which show I am referring to. CA, I'm very happy about, even though I've seen that episode a millions times. And LB isn't a big surprise. No Lorimar? They're going to talk about Lorimar/Lee Rich, but not going to show any of his shows? Not even the "Waltons"? I'm sure you all know which two shows I would have preferred though... TVLand Moguls the 80s 10:00pm The Cosby Show (TV Land Moguls: Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner) #1 "Pilot" 10:30pm SOAP (TV Land Moguls: Witt-Thomas-Harris) #24 Guest Stars WKRP's Howard Hesseman and Gordon Jump 11:00pm The A-Team (TV Land Mogul: Stephen J. Cannell) #3 "Children of Jamestown" Super Bowl Episode Definatly not surprised with TCS, and when I saw that Witt-Thomas-Harris was going to be featured, I was sure they were going to show "Soap." Haven't seen "The A Team" in a while, so I'll watch it. TVLand Moguls the 90s 10:00pm Doogie Howser, M.D. (TV Land Moguls: David E. Kelley and Stephen Bocho) #1 "Pilot" 10:30pm Picket Fences (TV Land Mogul: David E. Kelley) #1 "Pilot" Haven't seen DHMD in a while, so I'll watch that. Never even saw PF, so I might watch that. I would have preferred them airing "Melrose Place" for Darren Star instead of two Kelley shows, though. The special Box Set is interesting. Could this be a return of something that should have never left in the first place? |

Press Release on the Moguls Blocks:
TV'S MOST POWERFUL AND SUCCESSFUL PRODUCERS PROFILED IN TV LAND MOGULS Merv Griffin Hosts Six-Part Documentary Series to Premiere on April 21 Narrated by Actor Adam Arkin Santa Monica, CA, April 14, 2004 - TV Land, the network home to the best programming from television history, profiles television's most influential movers and shakers in the medium's history in a six-part documentary series entitled TV Land Moguls. Hosted by television veteran Merv Griffin, each one-hour installment chronicles the creative pioneers who indelibly influenced the television industry. The series is narrated by actor Adam Arkin ("Chicago Hope", "8 Simple Rules ..."). The announcement was made by Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. Produced by the award-winning CBS News Productions, the documentary series is presented in six installments, with each installment focusing on a decade -- from television's rise in the early 1950's to date. The series highlights the creativity, innovation and business acumen that brought about significant contributions to the television industry as well as considerable personal wealth to the individual producers. The first episode of TV Land Moguls will premiere on Wednesday, April 21 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), with subsequent installments airing on the ensuing Wednesdays at 9:00 PM, ET/PT. Immediately following each telecast TV Land will present a specially-themed programming block representing the work of moguls seen in that evening's episode. Each installment presents the select group of producers and their significant creative contributions. Among the roster of celebrated producers featured are Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball, Sheldon Leonard, Danny Thomas, Carl Reiner, Quinn Martin, Sherwood Schwartz, Norman Lear, Grant Tinker, Aaron Spelling, Garry Marshall, Stephen J. Cannell, Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner, Stephen Bochco, Dick Wolf, Rob Burnett, Darren Star and Jerry Bruckheimer. Along with rarely seen archival footage, the series also features interviews with many of the actors and actresses who starred in the television programs showcased, including Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Marlo Thomas, Efrem Zimabalist, Jr., Tony Randall, John Amos, Mary Kay Place, Jean Stapleton, Henry Winkler, Gavin McLeod, Alec Baldwin, Joan Van Ark, Ricardo Montalban, Betty White, James Garner, Robert Guillaume, Dennis Franz, Jimmy Smits, Camryn Manheim, Jesse Martin, Jason Priestley, Sarah Jessica Parker, William Petersen, David Caruso and Anthony LaPaglia. Following is a brief synopsis of each episode: * The 50's: Television's Golden Age It was during this time that celebrated television icons Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball, Sheldon Leonard and Danny Thomas developed breakthrough television production and 3-camera filming before a live audience. They were instrumental in moving TV production to Los Angeles and created quality, character-driven sitcoms that were ratings winners. * The 60's Quinn Martin and Jack Webb brought gritty crime drama and feature film production quality to the television screen at this time. Concurrently, Sherwood Schwartz and Paul Henning found success with zany sitcoms including The Beverly Hillbillies and Gilligan's Island. * The 70's - Part I Because of their taste, style and tenacity, Grant Tinker (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda) and Norman Lear (All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Sanford & Son) changed the television landscape forever. This installment of TV Land Moguls focuses on how they broke down barriers, opened viewers' minds, and shed light on the world "outside the box" -- illuminating the human spirit. The creative atmosphere at their production companies nurtured several generations of TV's best talent. * The 70's - Part II Although dismissed by the critics, Aaron Spelling and his partner Leonard Goldberg had one of the most prolific and profitable production company's in the 1970's -- from Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch to The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Meanwhile, former advertising executive Lee Rich's Lorimar Productions produces The Waltons and Eight Is Enough. However, it's Dallas that brings phenomenal ratings success and signals the emergence of primetime soaps (Dynasty, Knots Landing, and Garry Marshall strikes a chord with America's funny bone with hits like The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. * The 80's Stephen J. Cannell dominated network primetime with action-adventure hits like Baretta, Rockford Files, the A-Team and Wiseguy in the 1980's. Stephen Bochco brought quirky, quality, dramatic hits like Hill Streeet Blues, L.A. Law and N.Y.P.D. Blue to the small screen. The decade also saw the outrageous sitcoms from Witt-Thomas-Harris Productions, including Soap and Benson. Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner achieve the pinnacle of success with their groundbreaking comedy series, The Cosby Show, Roseanne and A Different World. * The 90's Prolific writer/producer David E. Kelley dominates with Chicago Hope, Picket Fences, Ally McBeal and The Practice at this time. Dick Wolf's New York-based Law & Order franchise debuts, and in addition to hosting and producing his own late night show, comedian David Letterman forms World Wide Pants with Rob Burnett and the two produce The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, the dramatic series Ed and the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. Darren Star collaborates with mogul Aaron Spelling to deliver the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. He later goes on to produce HBO's phenomenally successful and groundbreaking series, Sex and The City, which follows the funny and sometimes shocking exploits of four single women in New York City. Jerry Bruckheimer, one of the most successful feature film producer's in the history of film, brings his big-budget film style to the small screen. Combining state of the art visual effects with authenticity and realism -"feature-television," his hits include C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation, C.S.I. Miami, and Without A Trace. Before They Were Friends Press Release:
TV LAND GOES ON A FRENZY WHEN CLASSIC TV SALUTES FINAL EPISODE OF FRIENDS May 6 Salute Features Performers "Before They Were Friends" and People Reminding Viewers to Watch Friends Santa Monica, CA, April 19, 2004 - As a fitting tribute to Friends, one of television's most popular and enduring sitcoms, TV Land will go on a complete frenzy and pre-empt regularly scheduled programming to salute the series on Thursday, May 6 -- the night of the finale. TV Land's tribute to Friends will feature two central components. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET/PT, the network will showcase programming featuring each of the cast members in roles "Before They Were Friends" including: Jennifer Aniston in Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Lisa Kudrow in Cheers; Courtney Cox in Family Ties; Matthew Perry in Who's the Boss?; David Schwimmer in The Wonder Years and Matt LeBlanc in Just the 10 of Us. Then, at 9 p.m., for the entire hour that the Friends finale is airing, TV Land will be closed for business. Instead of regularly scheduled programming, viewers tuning in to TV Land will be treated to a room full of TV Land staffers - purportedly watching the Friends finale -- periodically addressing the camera to remind viewers that the Friends finale is on and that we really aren't airing anything so there's no point staying tuned. TV Land will rebroadcast all six episodes of "Before They Were Friends" beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The last time TV Land pre-empted programming to pay tribute to a series was in 1998 to salute the finale of Seinfeld. Throughout the entire hour, TV Land aired nothing to salute the show about nothing. The only thing seen on the channel was an image of TV Land's closed office doors accompanied by a note explaining that the network would return after the conclusion of Seinfeld's finale. "The end of Friends is the end of an era in television history," states Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "Friends has proven itself to be a 'modern classic' and TV Land wants to be sure no viewers accidentally miss this historic television event." Now seen in over 82 million U.S. homes, TV Land's program mix features popular dramas, sitcoms, westerns, Retromercials(r) and a TV-referential interstitial environment, all programmed with a specific audience in mind - the first generation of Americans to grow up watching television and features all time classic hits like All In The Family, I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. |

They should have never done it all to begin with. TVLand is supposed to be an escape for those of us who don't like the mainstream current shows. I don't usually watch TVLand Primetime, but I am very upset that they are going to do this, it's the most asinine thing I have ever seen a TV channel do.

I'm thinking about giving up on TV Land, too. If this is the way they're gonna run their channel, I'll just stick to my tapes and DVDs. |

This is absolutely ridiculous.
I agree totally with JT and TVAdam. Why do they have to do this? Well, whenever TBS loses Friends, we sure know what will take the place of Cosby Show on N@N as the numero uno show LOL.I have nothing against Friends. I caught an episode the other day, it was funny. But the fact is, it's just a show. Why is it being treated like it's the best thing since sliced bread? Oh well, nothing we can do about it I guess. If TV Land wants to lose viewers for an hour, so be it, lol. |

I thought it was really stupid when they did it for Seinfeld and I think it is even more stupid to do it for Friends. Not everyone will be watching Friends. I think the TV guide said only 50-60 million people will be. More watched the series finale of Cheers and MASH. I for one will NOT be watching Friends or the stupid tribute to them.

Official release on the Bewitched Mother's Day Stunt:
"Oh Durwood!" It's Mother's Day on TV Land, Endora Style TV Land Celebrates with Bewitched's Favorite Mom Santa Monica, CA, May 1, 2004 - It's a spell-bound Mother's Day on TV Land viewers will enjoy a Mother's Day filled with incantations and hexes as Endora casts her spells in Bewitched: "Mother's Day Endora Style." Beginning on Tuesday, May 4 at 8:00pm to 12:00am ET/PT, (encore presentation Sunday, May 9, 4:00pm-8:00pm ET/PT), viewers will celebrate Mother's Day with eight classic episodes as the network pays homage to the Mother of all Mother in Laws. The first telecast of Bewitched aired in 1964, featuring the wedding of Samantha and Darrin, a young witch and a mere mortal. Yearning for normality, Samantha vowed never to use witchcraft again, but her relatives did not make the same promise, especially her mother, Endora. Unexpected visits by mischievous witches and warlocks combined with Endora's antics created pandemonium in the Stephens's household. TV Land's "Mother's Day Endora Style" schedule is as follows: 8:00pm - Bewitched #4 Mother Meet What's His Name? Darrin returns home for his first meeting with Endora only to find that she has tied up some of the neighborhood boys. 8:30pm - Bewitched #24 Which Witch is Mine? Endora transforms herself into an identical copy of Samantha, which causes problems when a young author falls for her. 9:00pm - Bewitched #50 Speak The Truth Endora believes there would be instant chaos if humans only told the truth. To prove this, Endora places a statuette in Darrin's office forcing everyone, except Samantha, to tell the truth. 9:30pm - Bewitched #58 The Dancing Bear When both Endora and Mrs. Stephens buy Tabitha the same toy bear, Endora uses her magical powers to make her toy bear dance. 10:00pm - Bewitched #62 Baby's First Paragraph While Samantha and Darrin meet an important client, Endora baby-sits with Tabitha and promises not to use any magic. Already tired of hand-me-downs and believing that his stepmother hates him, Bobby starts packing when his brothers and stepsisters don't include him in their plans and leave him at home alone. 10:30pm - Bewitched #80 Endora Move in for a Spell Uncle Arthur and Endora clash over Tabitha's powers and debate who's to live across the street. They keep zapping a house there until Sam insists they make up. 11:00pm - Bewitched #120 Solid Gold Mother In Law One of Darrin's partners is convinced that Endora is a saint and that Darrin mistreats her shamefully. 11:30pm - Bewitched #141 Samantha's Wedding Present Endora offers Sam a belated wedding gift.
