If There was Cable TV i the 50's and 60's, do you think shows like these

If I came along during the 50's anf 60's I would have just read a book if i had to choose between these shows.

Why wouldnt any of those be successful?
They're successful in syndication.

If I lived then I would definately watch:
I Love Lucy
The Andy Griffith Show
The Beverly Hillbillies
Bewitched
and Green Acres

And thinking about the times, and the music that was around then....
Id probably watch "The Ed Sullivan Show" too.

Id probably watch "The Ed Sullivan Show" too.

What does that mean if they did well in syndication? There were MORE options to choose from and some people just took a chance on some of these shows. And if they didn't like them it was other options. But when these shows were on during it;s original run people back in the 50's had nothing else to turn to so it was either watch Gunsmoke or go to bed-LOL

I think they would still be successful. All of them except Ed Sullivan are some of my favorite shows and I've watched them for years in syndication. If I didn't like a show nobody would force me to watch it

Do you think you watch those shows in syndication because there was so many other TV programs for you to choose from? I think back in the 50's people watch TV with an"IT"S BETTER THAN NOTHING" attitude

Maybe in the early 50's people watched tv because it was new and they just wanted to see anything but these shows lasted a long time and have rarely been off the air since they ended their runs. I have a lot of channels but even though there are a lot more choices I still like these shows more than most of the shows on now---at least the sitcoms.I like them all better than any of the reality shows that are on now.

Yeah that's another good point. Watching TV was a new thing in the 50's which probably had alot to do with the success of those shows.
