Seinfeld nixes sitcom - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

April 2, 2004 -- JERRY Seinfeld says he won't be doing another sitcom - not now, not ever.
"Why would I do that?" he told WFAN listeners last night while co-hosting a sports-talk show.

"When you have an experience like that [meaning, 'Seinfeld'], it's like Joe DiMaggio starting another streak," Seinfeld said.

"I don't think so."

The comedian told 'FAN's Steve Somers - whom he's known since the two met in an Upper East Side market - that he doesn't even watch sitcoms much.

"I know the medium too well - I know the moves too well," he said.

"I like watching standup comics."

Seinfeld told WFAN listeners he likes baseball - and his box at Shea - despite the sport's constant turmoil.

"The players change teams, the teams move from city to city - the only thing that stays the same is the uniforms," he said.

"We're literally rooting for laundry."

Seinfeld, an admitted talk radio junkie, aired some gripes about talk show callers:

"I'm tired of 'I'll hang up and let you answer' Just get the hell off," he said.

"And nobody wants to hear 'first time [caller], long time[listener].'"

It makes sense, but knowing Jerry's comedy, he could make it work. I'd like to see Julia get another crack at a sitcom.

As much as I'd love to see Jerry back in another sitcom, I know it probably won't happen.

He's got all money in the world, a wife and kids and fame. He's just living and loving the good life.
