Guys,
Years ago, I had a very painful yeast infection and my doctor prescribed Lamisil, which is an anti-fungal cream and tablet and it worked GREAT! The prescription was about $75 for a 30gram tube of the cream. But, now, you can by Lamisil over the counter in the same prescription strength and for some reason I have tried it on other minor skin irritations. (Expensive, about $14.00 for a 15mg tube.) We have a relative that used it when his nails were cracking and buring and after about 4 days, it cleared right up! (Nothing else worked) I don't know what is in this stuff. But it really helps. It is however, NOT recommmended for anything on the face. I was wondering what other medicines. (Prescription, or over the counter) or formerly prescription and now over the counter have worked for you? What medication have you found alternate uses for that really works? I also take Lorazapam for anxiety and have for the last 4 years and it has been a Godsend for me. Jack |

I don't take medicine that much, but these are the best I have taken:
Phenergan--I take that sometimes still when I feel sick to my stomach. Percocet Albuterol--When I had pneumonia that let me breathe again. The greatest I ever took though, was one I took years ago. A really rare drug called Elmiron. It's not even in the 3 drug books we have. (A viral infection damaged my bladder and Elmiron cured it.) |

There's nothing I would recommend, because, IMO, none of it is that great.

Pepto Bismol. It's cheap, it's relatively easy to swallow without wanting to throw it back up, and it works in one swig. Great stuff.

Nyquil's great for colds..
I take these.... Alleve...for mild headaches, sore muscles (when i'm at home) Excedrin migraine....for moderate to bad headaches (rarely) Ibuprofen: Sore muscles, back pain also for headaches--usually when i'm at work. it's the only thing that doesn't make me drowsy. Synthroid - For hypo-thyroidism, I have to take it everyday. |

I'm TJL, and I have cold sores.
Every winter at one time or another, I will get cold sores. I've tried a bunch of over the counter remedies, and they work, but they take a long time, and i still have a hideous sore on my face for a week. My sister gave me Abreva cold sore ointment, and it worked great. A few weeks ago, I felt a cold sore comng on, I put some abreva on it, and the next day, I was fine. It's the best. |

Theraflu caplets. Another cold remedy is Alka-Seltzer Plus even though it tastes nasty, it does work. If I have to take it, I hold my nose and swig it down.
You might think I'm weird but I also like taking ampicillan, especially when I would have an infected tooth or some other infection. |

Alavert works great though. And OMG...Benadryl...that stuff apparently doesn't play nice with Paxil because one night it kept me up for hours with bad jitters. Horrible. And yes...NyQuil rocks. Tastes like ass, but it does its duty. |
