The first season of Mary's show on dvd retailed for $49.99, and people complained about the price and Fox blamed the disappointing sales partly on having to charge so much. And yet, the Dick Van Dyke dvds retail at $69.99 and seem to do very well. I was wondering why there was a discrepency between the two.
Personally, I think a final price of around $55 for the DVD dvds is very good, considering the quality of what we get. |

TDVDS retails at $69.99? I certainly didn't pay that much for them. However, I would if I had to. I think the TDVDS dvds are better than the MTM dvds because they offer more bonus features including entire episodes of other shows that members of the cast appeared in. There are more commentaries and photos. I bought the MTM season 1 set and will buy the season 2 set when it comes out because I like the show but I think TDVDS dvds offers so much more. I recently bought the Barney Miller season 1 dvds and all they offer are the episodes. There are no bonus features except short cast bios and I found it very disappointing. Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with Lolac's statement about the TDVDS DVD's, but I still believe TMTMS could have sold for $49.99, if only they had been properly promoted. Just my 2 cents LOL. Kristen |

I have the first 3 seasons of TDVDS on DVD
and MTM:Season 1 on DVD Personally, I prefer TDVDS, but I still plan on buying the remaining seasons of MTM if they ever come out. I think TDVDS sold better because of better advertising.... and the fact that everybody knew that EVERY season was definately going to be released. Its like with movies.... not many people would buy "Star Wars" and "Return of the Jedi" but not "The Empire Strikes Back" Or books.... not many people would buy "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" without buying "The Fellowship of the Ring" People want collections. And some people are too dumb to realize that the sales have to be good for the first set for a second set to be released. And those are the people who are holding out for the entire series to come out on DVD. ignorance. |
