Default Does it ever bother you...

when you borrow a CD from the library and you can't play the CD because it's too scratched up? I don't usually borrow CDs from the library, but sometimes they have some pretty cool world music in their selection, and some good rock, pop and blues music. I borrowed the Kelly Clarkson CD to listen to some more tunes of her music to see if it would be worth it to buy the album and I couldn't even get the CD to play. And, I mean, not at all. If it skipped, I would think, okay it needs to be cleaned or something, but the CD didn't even play one song. The other CDs I had borrowed played just fine, so I thought, okay, it can't be my CD player or the CD rom on the computer, so I looked at the CD and there was all this gunk on it and it was scratched really badly. It's amazing how some people just don't handle the CDs nicely and manage to scratch them up, especially when the CD is not even theirs. Now, before I borrow a CD from the library I remember to check to see if it's badly scratched before I check it out. Does anyone else find this to be a pain when or if they check out tapes or discs from the library?

That has never happened to me probably because I've only borrowed like 3 CD's total from the library in my life, because they don't have a good enough selection. Not enough new CD's. I think it would be a really cool idea if someone invented a store where you could actually rent CD's. Not like old ones at the library, but new ones. Like when they are released every Tuesday you can just go rent it just like you do at blockbuster. Besides if you don't like it you can take it back (well, you have to). But it sucks that stores where you buy CD's don't let you return them if they're open. If someone thinks up an idea to have a store that rents out new CD's would be a genius in my book!

I didn't want to mention that part, because I thought it would make me look like a bad person, but yeah, I was hoping to make a copy of the CD, too. Today, I borrowed a Tommy Castro Band album called Guilty Of Love. Good album. And, plan to make a copy of it once I get around to buying some new blank CDs.
The renting CDs sounds like a good idea. As long as some of the rent money goes to the singers, so that it isn't exactly stealing, not that ripping copies from the CDs isn't stealing, right?

Come to think of it, if a store ever did rent out CDs, there probably wouldn't be enough money to help pay for the royalties to the singers. Thus, the end of the music industry right there. But, still a good idea, to the consumer mind, anyway.

That has never happened to me with a CD from the library before, but it has happened with a DVD from Blockbuster. It sucks.

I've never had that problem. Of course, my library doesn't have a large CD collection anyway.

What really bugs me is whenever I rent a video at the video store and go to watch it, I usually have to rewind the tape first because the person who rented it before me couldn't be bothered to rewind it after watching it I know it's a minor pet peeve, but it's still annoying.

I rented a lot of cds when a new library was opened since people hadn't had the chance to scratch them up. By now though, they're all scratched. It bugs me that people don't take care of public cds, but probably take care of their own.

I never even bother to borrow CDs from my library, they never have the ones that I want.

BTW, do you guys remember when Blockbuster Music used to rent out CDs, but it eventually turned to a regular music store, and closed down a few years later.

Something similar's happened to me; scratched up DVD's from a movie rental place. It really sucks.

Yeah, I wasn't aware that libraries had cds either.

I haven't borrowed anything from a library in a looooooooooong time. I remember I used to borrow the cassette of "Tango In The Night" by Fleetwood Mac I think I took that thing out every week. My parents should have just bought the damn thing for me LOL
