Default Favorite western

Before I saw The Magnificent Seven, westerns never really held my interest. Now I have a new appreciation for the genre. I have heard nothing but good things about the seven movies below. I have not seen any of the others but I plan to when I have the time. Which of the seven are your favorites? Adding why you like them would be a plus.

The Magnificent Seven
High Noon
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Shootist

I'll answer the poll later. Those are some very tough choices, and I have to think about it.

Since you're getting into Westerns, Clint Eastwood's 'Unforgiven' is a must.

I also saw Kevin Costner's 'Open Range' at the movies this year. It's out on video now. Excellent movie.

I knew these were tough choices. I meant to put westerns instead of just favorite western. That's why I made it multiple choices.

I love westerns! The Shootist is well done and John Wayne's last movie. Liberty Valance, another fav. JW and Lee Marvin are a great combo and Jimmy Stewart is great. High Noon + Gary Cooper = Great Movie! In High Noon I want to help out Gary so much. There are so many Great westerns out there. My list of favorite westerns is way too long.

I haven't seen many western films. Out of ones I have seen I would have to say that "Wilf Wild West" is my favorite.

My all-time favorite western is definitely 'The Magnificent Seven'

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Gotta love those spaghetti westerns and, of course, Clint Eastwood.

The ending's one of my favorites of any movie, too.

High Noon. The way that suspense builds is incredible.

And the music to those movies was great...A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Hugo Montenegro and His Orchestra had that great distinctive sound.

They really did, which is but another reason I've always been such a fan. It's as if they made a whole other character for those movies, and beautifully at that!
