KotH has always had father-knows-best, moral messages. Look at the pilot episode, where there's a heartwarming final scene between Hank and Bobby.
I don't agree that the humor is gone, anyway; sometimes I could wish for more jokes, but there's still a lot to laugh at -- my sister (not a regular viewer of the show) watched last night's new episode with me and she laughed a lot. (Cotton's always funny.) |

Wasn't it just this season that Hank was running from the bulls because Peggy gave him too much testosterone?
If that wasn't funny, I don't know what is. Regarding the Father Knows Best thing, I remember at least some episodes where Hank finally realized Peggy or Bobby or somebody else was right about something. Of course, Jim Anderson didn't really always know best on that show either. But yeah, there's usually some kind of moral. I think there's still plenty of humor though. |

I know what teddybare's saying; you watch Seasons 1 and 2 and laugh your butt off, but the later seasons are not AS funny. I don't agree with him completely though, I think the news ones are still funny.

I don't agree at all. The show lasted 10 plus seasons, so what do you expect, realistically? Was EVERY Seinfeld episode funny? Not to me, anyway.

It's not so much the father-knows-best thing in itself that's wrong, but most of the show's humor as of late has been undeniably dry.
The characters say a lot of wise cracks, but it's hard to actually feel what they're saying. The writers don't really seem to be into their work anymore. There have been some funny episodes, but after the Season 8 pickup, they've been increasingly harder to find. |
