I am a little confused on some of the stuff dealing with Roseanne and Dan's fourth kid, Jerry. I saw "Direct to Video" last night, and Roseanne hasn't given birth yet. I could have sworn she had Jerry in "Halloween, the Final Chapter". And, throughout her pregnancy, Jerry was going to be a girl, but after it was born, wasn't he a boy? Can somebody please clear these things up for me?!?!?

Well, it was supposed to be a girl, you see, with the doctor saying at the end of an episode, "It's a girl!" They also used "girl" and "sister" references right up until the birth, when all of a sudden we find out that she had a boy instead.
Turns out that she wanted it to be exactly like it was in her family, which didn't make much sense, since the life of Roseanne Conner and Roseanne the person are (or should be) distinct entities. Roseanne the person is playing the part of Roseanne Conner. Of course, for the amount that they used Jerry Garcia Conner in the episodes (i.e. how he worked into the plots and such), he was very much an unnecessary character. I'd dare say his character worked into more episodes when Roseanne was pregnant than after birth. Even Jackie's son Andy worked into the show more, with it bringing Jackie and Fred together and then watching them self-destruct, etc. Ben F. Schumin :-) |

Direct to Video is an episode which has confused me for quite a while now. The only explanation that I can think of is that they made the tape after he was born but pretended that he wasn't born yet because they didn't make it before. That way, when he sees it in the future, he'll think that it really was from before his birth, or something. They probably used the girl refernces because they thought the baby was a girl up until the time of birth (maybe the doctor lied to them to surprise them! lol, I doubt it). Anyway, I hope that that all made sense!

The reason why this episode has Roseanne still pregnant is because it was the 3rd episode filmed and was aired later on. This happens a lot on Roseanne. Also in the episode Becky's hair long, Darlenes short, and Dan still has his beard.
