certain day off because it;s their BIRTHDAY? Is that something a supervisor needs to know? A co-worker of mine told her supervisor that's he reason she is taking off Monday. I think unless you are putting in vacation time for a entire week it's fine but to take off one day and say it's because it's your birthday is SILLY. Anyone Agree?

My mom gets her birthday off with pay. If you are giving notice for a day off ahead of time I don't think you really need to tell them anything its not really their business.

I agree. I think that if you're going to use that day for a vacation or something than it would be all right, but to just take off because it's your birthday is rather ridiculous. |

Well it's nothing wrong with taking off because it's your BIRTHDAY, i was just saying the supervisor doesn't need to know that's your reason for taking off. |

Actually, taking off for your birthday could be a problem in some instances especially if there isn't someone to fill in for the person who took off because of his/her birthday. This is most notable in the military. |

I'd probably make something up. Or just call in sick. My boss is afraid of germs.
