Default 014 The Deal airs this evening

Scheduled to air tonight, TBS, 1900 hours Pac Coast

014 The Deal
Season 2
Original Broadcast 02 May, 1991
gs: Siobhan Fallon [ Tina ], Norman Brenner [ Clerk ]

Synopsis:
>>>Jerry and Elaine are watching TV late at night and stumble across "naked people" and that gets them both discussing whether they could have a relationship and not jeopardize their friendship. George says it can't be done, but Jerry and Elaine devise "a system"; however, it develops a little trouble when her birthday comes along.<<<

For those of you who haven't seen every episode, or those of you who don't rate early episodes too high, this classic ep is deserves a viewing.
It is a well done [early] Seinfeld

Worthy moments:

The whole first scene where J & E strike the deal is a gem. The Look, the combining the this and the that, & they make the rules.

J & G at Monk's. J tells G he was "with" Elaine, then is not in the mood for details, so of course G does his great well you get in the mood rant

"Spending the night. Optional."

Jer's uncle-like cash birthday gift to his pal Elaine.

And Jerry, not in one of those of-his-rocker-modes, reveals his true love for Elaine (it seems obvious to G), and, he & George talk about prison:

J: She's at it as you get. Imagine bumping into her on the street in five years with a husband. And she tells me he's a sculptor, they live in Vermont...

G: We'd have to kill him.

J: We'd get caught, I'd get the chair.

G: I'd go to prison as your accomplice. I'd have to wear that really heavy denim. Go to the cafeteria line with the guy who slops those mashed potatoes onto your plate. Go to the bathroom in front of hundreds of people.

J: Plus, you know what else.

G: You better call her.

That quote where George is talking about having to wear heavy denim is one of his 'gayest' moments on the show. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Glad you caught (& liked) it EB Thought you might, we talked about this one before & I've been waiting for you to view it.

star, how 'bout (don't know when) Georgie does his hand wringing/shakes hands out motion accompanied with his whiney voice, that's pretty fembot-like too (you know what I mean?)
As eps go, do you like 014 The Deal?

Oh, I think he does that hand wringing after he does one of his arm twitches (for real, not a fake one) when he is at his parents house watching the mayor on TV. He is upset looking and kind of stomps his feet and puts his hand under his arm. You may be looking for something else though. That is fembot-like though, or at least little kid like.

It is ok, not one of my favs, just to early on for me to rate it up there. It does have some good parts though.

I like it because Jerry and Elaine become a couple in it. I think it's the first and only time the show shows that.

ANNA: (George is crying) It's all right, George. You'll just pay a fine and that'll be it.

GEORGE: Why did the policeman have to yell at me like that?

That was very funny. That also fits in the category, but more little kiddish than gay.
