TBS airs the episodes by production code not by when they aired. But for some reason they just refuse to air a two parter on the same day even if they follow eachother in production order. They showed an episode between the Mama for Mayor episodes this week, right?

I didn't realize just how out of order the NBC years are aired until I started labeling my tapes from this time period. I was using Miss Vicki's schedule to label my NBC episodes (I am currently working on my collection) and I was shocked at how out of order they were. I had no idea!

check epguides.com people!

Production code order is used by TBS. The only reasons the non-nbc years are aired in original airdate order is because they actually aired in production code order in the first place.

I feel loved.

No, just kidding...yeah, I know what you mean. A few of my tapes are like that, too.

Yeah, it bothers me a little that they are so out of order, but there is nothing to do about it. That is how TBS runs them, so that is how I have to record them. I'm just glad that the syndicated episodes are run more in order. But when I was using your schedule as I was playing my tapes, I kept having to skip around. I'm just happy that I am getting all of the episodes though.

Another thing that really bothers me--how they air every two parter now in two days. The Mayor, Hawaii, and the Wedding are all separated now.

I hear ya. I THINK I have the Wedding eps together, but the other two that aired are both separated.

Yeah, I think I remember that they used to show them together more. If I were a programmer, I would skip an episode so that I could put them together and then go backwards. I mean they skip and air enough episodes out of order. However, TBS does so much better than TV Land or N@N with airing shows. That is why I want Mama to stay where she is for now.

That's precisely the reason why I'm so against getting Mama to be on N@N or TVLand. TBS's better anyway

TBS never skips episodes. And mostly they don't need to air the two parters apart, but they do. For example, they showed Hawaii 1 and then the season 5 premiere after it, then the next day they showed Hawaii 2 and the 2nd season 5 episode right after it. If they were logical, they would have shown the Hawaii episodes together and then shown the 2 s 5 episodes together.

For the upteenth time, TBS does not technically air episodes out of order. They air them by production code and the NBC episodes just happened to be all over the place.

Look, this is the way the episodes of season 2 aired on NBC, by production code:

210
203
204
209
206
211
212
207
202
215
216
217
218
219
220
221
213
219
222
205
201 (TBS starts with this)

The syndicated eps are more in order because this is how they aired when they first aired in the 80s, by production code:

301 (TBS starts with this)
302
303
304
305
306
307
308
309
310
311
312
313
314
315
316
317
318
319
320
321
322
323
324

Question

Does anyone know why NBC aired the episodes out of order in the first place?

Just happens. Some episodes are ready before others.
