Post "Carol Burnett & Friends" used to be on local TV stations

Has anybody seen the microfilm or an old TV Guide listings (probably in the New York area) of the show that originally ran in syndication called "Carol Burnett & Friends" since it was first aired in 1979 a year after "The Carol Burnett Show" ended? Could it be on local stations especially in NYC like WNYW, WCBS, WPIX or WOR? I was born in 1978 a year before Carol Burnett went into syndication. I've never seen that show since it was first aired in reruns since I was a baby.

In New York, Carol Burnett I do believe aired on WPIX at 6:00 and 6:30 PM in the evening. Where I liced here in Fresno/Visalia Carol Burnett also aired on Pappas' KFRE-TV WB 59 in Fresno at 9 AM and 9:30 AM in the first half of last season in which it aired before Good Day LIVE debuted on KFRE last year in Jan. 2003. Since then the Carol Burnett & Friends show moved to 12 and 12:30 PM right after Family Feud last year but got canned in favor of Texas Justice and Divorce Court. Texas Justcice is OK but Divorce Court is too boring!

I Love Carol Burnett! Has anybody first seen that show which it used to be in reruns back around 1979 and what local stations when it was used to aired on in NYC? As I said, I haven't seen "Carol Burnett & Friends" when it was first shown in reruns since I was an infant.

I agree with that. USA used to run "Carol Burnett & Friends" for a short time back in 1998 or 1999 I believe. But according to the atlernate versions section from the IMDb site:

1972-78 episodes were re-packaged in a half-hour format (with the comedy sketches only) and sold it to local stations in syndication as "Carol Burnett & Friends"

Unless it was like for a week or something for a special acasion like for Carol's birthday there were not aired. Because I've been to lots of websites and Carol talked about it on something I saw about USA being the 1st to show here reruns

I remember since I grew up watching Carol Burnett when it used to be on TBS or WGN while I was living in Puerto Rico. I don't remember any of these local stations since I first saw it back when I was a baby.

Way back in the Stone Age, before most people had cable and there were only three channels to choose from, "Carol Burnett and Friends" was on my local ABC affiliate weeknights at 7:30. This was during the late 70's and early 80's.

I grew up with the original show and when TBS ran the smaller version I taped them. Now thank goodness I can get the entire show on dvd!

WGN had the original full hour going on in the 80's, mr roper says.

Jon, it all depends. If the other people posting in here says TCBS aired on a channel other than USA in the 90's, then chances are most likely that their town's local affliate obtained rights to air it...

Myself...I don't recall TCBS in reruns on other channels, other than USA, in the 90's...so I guess none of my local affliates got the rights to air TCBS back then.

I remember watching Carol Burnett and Friends in syndication on wnew Ch 5 in nyc in the early 80s. It came on in the early evening and then it came on in the mornings in later years. They seriously edited it though, because not only did they cut the show from an hour to 1/2 hour and cut out all the musical bits and a good bit of her opening Q/A with the audience, but they only showed episodes from 4 of the 11 seasons. I remember going to the Caribbean in the summer of 1976 and seeing daytime reruns that were full one hour unedited shows with Lyle Waggoner that were maybe about 5 or 6 years old at the time.

You're absolutely right! "Carol Burnett & Friends" used to be on WNEW (WNYW), Ch. 5 back in the early 80's. I've never seen this since I was a baby when it was on in the evenings and in the mornings. Thanks a lot!
