I just put together a song and trivia page for Mr. Ed. It's still under construction--but good enough to view, now. My first posting, here! :wave So I found info on Larry Keating's death: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...arry%20Keating He'd died August 26, 1963, of leukemia. And after I read that he was buried at the Mount Calvery Cemetary, in Multnomah County, Portland, Oregon, I'd remembered that we had watched news coverage of this, on televsion ( as I was in Portland, at that time ). It was my favorite show, and I was just about 4 at the time, and had to have it explained to me that Mr. Addison wouldn't be on the show anymore ( or at least, after his last episodes aired. So WAS it the Leo Durosher episode? Keating's bio lists #78: "The Blessed Event," aired May 12, 1963, as his last; but he was still referred to in episode #80, "Wilbur Post, Honorary Horse," aired Oct. 6, 1963. ) )

Larry Keating was my favorite Harry Morton on "Burns and Allen".

I think he was too ill to perform for a brief period before he died, and was refered to as being away in a show or two.
The wife Kay stayed a few morem whith the agin visiting brother in law Jack Albertson til the end of the season. Who was really just going through the paces... not of the fun he was as the original occassional guest record producer... who "discoverd" Pretty Little Filly. Here is some trivia since it just ran again before going off TV Land... what was the second "hit" song of Ed's? |

The second song was "I've got the Empty FeedBag blues--and I'm sorry that i missed the episode! I wanted to catch the lyrics to that! I'd memorized Pretty Little Filly, from years back, so that's how I got all the lyrics. Didn't see them anywhere else on the internet, so decided to post them! Did you tape the episode? Do you have the lyrics??
And I also wasn't quite really certain certain about a paryticular line in Pretty Filly: "Gee! If she would [ be with me? Marry me? what? ] She'd be mine, today..." |
