I voted YES because I had never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm before.... but I had heard such good things about the show that I decided to "blind-buy" it.

And I was very pleased with my decision.
Its one of the best shows on TV.
Too bad I dont get HBO....

I said yes, though it's interesting, looking at my collection so far, I haven't blind bought any tv-dvds yet, just movies. I will be blind buying the "Freaks and Geeks" set coming out in a couple weeks.

I've already done that...Samurai Jack (4 Episode Disk), Red Skelton (1 of those bargain disks), Ozzie & Harriet (1 of those bargain disks), Powerstone (Anime).

I've also bought sets with episodes I had never seen of shows that I liked (Clarify: I had seen the show--but not the episodes in the set). Simpsons Season 3 is a good example.

Also, some sets I've bought were only after seeing 1 or 2 episodes of the show. These include Futurama, Family Guy, Beyblade, Medabots, Yu-Gi-Oh, Super Mario Bros. Super Show

As for the future...I've got a lot of upcoming releases for shows I love coming up (more of Star Trek Voyager, Tokyo Pig, Power Rangers, original Star Trek, Hogan's Heroes, etc.) But, I do plan to get the Partridge Family set, even though I've never seen it.

More as it comes in.

No i would never BUY a show i never saw before. What sense would that make? I can understand if someone WATCHES a show on Cable they never saw before like I'm doing with Laverne and Shirley but why PAY for a show on DVD I never heard of????

If it has not been on TV for a long time or if I have heard a lot of good things about it, then yes I will buy a DVD of a show I have never seen. If the premise of the show really interests me, that will also get me to blind-buy a TV show DVD.

The question wasn't if you'd buy a show on dvd you've never heard of. Anyway, in terms of blind buying dvds, you do research, read all you can about a show to figure if it's something that would interest you. It's all about being familiar with your tastes. It's not much different from your interest in acquiring episodes of "That's My Mama", whether or not you paid for them. You had never seen the show before but you had enough interest in that show to want a copy.

I bought 2 eps. Not 24. I wanted to evaluate the show

Yes, but it would hinge on if someone I liked were in it. For example, say I'd never seen The Incredible Hulk. I would buy it anyway because I like Bill Bixby.

Yeah I would buy a DVD without seening any episodes. I saw the reunion special for 'the simple life' and I decided to buy the dvd to see the episodes.

If I heard good things I would. Also, it would depend on whether or not there was an actor/actress I was a fan of.

I have already done that; so obviously YES. FYI, the show that I bought w/out ever seeing it was Green Acres. I heard through the grapevine that it was a classic with a good cast of colorful characters and storylines . . . so that's what hooked me. Other than that, the DVD set wasn't that expensive and I actually saved money. Overall, I am glad I bought Green Acres on DVD because it's a pretty darn good show to say the least.

I took this risk when I purchased the Futurama Volume 1 and it's one of my favorite shows now and since then I have bought the other two volumes. I also happened to get hooked on Buffy The Vampire Slayer after buying the first season.

Probably...like if it was an actor I like or a spin-off of a fave show, for example if 'Rhoda' or 'Phyllis' were on DVD I'd get them just to see the shows. That saying the three DVD sets I do own have all been bought on the basis of about two or three episodes!

I bought "The Office" on DVD without ever having seen it. The reason I did so was because David Letterman was talking about how good it was. I was not disappointed and am looking forward to the 2nd season being released.
