I read a few posts concerning Muffy over at the TV Land board in which the poster felt that either Patty or Lauren should have slapped Muffy across the face for the way she treated them. I actually believe that if Square Pegs had lasted longer that Lauren and Patty might have actually become friends with Muffy. If you think about it, Muffy was the ultimate Square Peg. Lauren and Patty had each other as well as Johnny and Marshall. Where as Muffy didn't ever seem to have any friends at all.

You make a very good point that I gave thought to after watching the show as an adult. More than likely, they could've become friends even if Muffy was a snob. When I watched it the first time around, seeing Patty and Lauren give her a good slap would've been great.

I really do think that Patty and Lauren could have been friends with Muffy. Muffy was just as unpopular as they were, she was just too stuck up to see it. I also think that Patty might have someday ended up with Larry Simpson. Maybe even Marshall and Lauren could have gotten together. And how about Muffy and Johnny Slash! They would have made an interesting couple, would have been like Bender and Claire in The Breakfast Club, well kind of.

Having Marshall and Lauren together would've been great... Muffy and Johnn Slash - now that would be something to see. I'd love it! I agree with the Bender and Claire comparison. The two of them together seems impossible, but makes sense at the same time.

One of the saddest things about the series lasting only a single season, is that we never got to see where the characters could really go. I've read that besides for low ratings, CBS wanted rid of Square Pegs do to an excessive about of drug use on the set. I just cannot see Sarah Jessica Parker, Jami Gertz and Tracy Nelson being the type that did drugs. And the little I've been able to read about Amy Linker, she doesn't seem to be the type who would either.

Did you know that both Jami Gertz and her character of Muffy
Tepperman are Jewish? |

how to make a possible spinoff of this rare short-lived classic
Quite frankly, the show was not half bad at all. It was not a matter of low ratings, but rather CBS executives whom wanted a full scale fmaily viewing audiences & basically they all wound up with an audience of teens & pre-teens alone mostly! However, if I can sale the idea of a possible spinoff to it, if any, well, just wait until JOHNNY & MARSHALL start bouncing around ITASCA COUNTY, MINNESOTA with lights flashing & sirens wailing as they patrol the backroads in a 1969 DODGE POLARA 4-DR. police with RADAR O'REILLY (as to be portrayed by GARY BURGHOFF) being the county sheriff whom is their boss which therefore makes them deputies!? Ofcourse, as for any possible chances of them having their own families in the spinoff, well, that'll depend ont he first draft of the script to be based upon my own fanfiction. Although, whom they have as spouses will remain somewhat of a mystery for the time being for security reasons, rest assured that MUFFY TEPPERMAN will have F. X. (FRANCIS XAVIER) "FRANCOIS" O'REILLY as a husband, even though FRANCOIS is one of JOHNNY & MARSHALL'S fellow deputies!?Quote:
