Default Question about a comment Florida Made in the episode-"Judith Cohen Story"

Florida makes a comment after seeing Michael perform. She says "HOW CAN WE LOSE WITH THE STUFF WE USE"

Someone told me today that particular phrase came from a 1970's song-I think the song was "Brick House". So I just want to know if anyone knows for sure if that phrase came from -BRICK HOUSE.

Hey Solomon, that line was in the song "Brick House", but Brick House came out in 1977. What season was that episode from because it would have had to of aired in 1977 or after. I think that phrase was around before The Commodores used it in Brick House though.

THe episode that Florida makes that statement in was aired on December 22, 1976. So i guess that phrase was around before the Commodores used it in BRICK HOUSE

Actually a lot of slang terms like Hammer's "It's All Good" were around before they were appropiated by a national artist and thus becoming part of the national lexicon. Even Snoop Dogg will tell you his "fo shizzle" talk originated in the "hood", but he just bought it national attention. I assume that was the case with this.

Well it looks like the writers of Good Times were not original.
