Pilot theme song vs. regular theme song(s) - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In the rarely seen pilot (now on DVD) the theme song was different and had a calypso music feeling to it. I think it's just as good as the regular theme song, sung first by the Wellingtons. What do any of you think?

Funny, the first season's theme song sounds like Gilligan singing. Second season sounds like Skipper doing so.

I think I'm used to the regular song.I like it better.You're right,the song sounds alot like it was Gilligan and the Skipper who were singing

While it's great to hear the pilot theme as an alternative after all these years, I think it would really get on your nerves hearing it day after day throughout one's life. It also seems rather amateurishly written/composed in comparison to the final theme. It sounds unfinished and is too long for a half hour show. That's my opinion.

I also found the pilot theme song so much more modern than the ones they substituted it with.
