Default Critic inside 1975 TV Guide makes fun of the Jefferson Theme Song

Here is what Cleveland Amory said about the theme song three weeks after the Jeffersons premeired

The Jeffersons have moved up. In the words of an AWFUL song at the start of the show, they've "moo-hoo-hooved" up to the East "Side-hide-hide" to a deluxe apartment in the "sky-hi-hie" because they've finally got a piece of the "pie-hi-hie"

It's funny how that "stupid" song is as catchy now as it was then. It's being used now in a commercial that has no black folks in it! So that should tell you how "smart" critics are!

The term MOVING ON UP is USED all the time. That phrase was used this morning on Sportscenter on ESPN. The guy said the Cleveland Cavs are MOVING ON UP. I bet that critic would have neer thought that the song would be used in commercials 29 years later-LOL

That theme song has become a classic and is almost as fondly remembered as the show itself.

Actually the theme song is probably remembered more than the show itself...

If any of them are still around, I wonder if they're eating their words now. It's a classic and has always been one of my favorite themes.

Any Sports Player with the last name Jefferson and is apart of a Sports Highlight will always lead to the phrase-"MOVING ON UP"-LOL

GARFIELDKOOL, here is what the Critic said about the Jeffersons after he criticized the song

"What we know is that this show is not good, pretty good or even fairly good. At best it is not bad"

Critics don't know nothing. 10 years shoul tell you something. I never saw That's My Mama, I seen Grady, that wasn't that good. With the exception of Good Times, this guy had bad taste. It's like he likes cancelled shows.
