Sad

I really shudder at the thought of what FOX is going to do with this

And Sherman is no Rocky Lane

I'll probably keep thinking that horse sounds like a DINOSAUR .

(if you remember the voice he did in that series)

Let alone they have clearly said they want to "urbanize" it.... when that was it was part of its original charm... just 60's people next door... when suberbia really was... rather than just and extention of the cities those areas are now.... with suburbia now infringinging on what was TRULY REMOTE rural not too many years ago.

Not to mention as sentimental and cliche' as MR ED is what really made it still play so well 40 years later is that ED and WILBUR are really one in the same or at least equal beings....

From their very first words Wilbur saying "Been a long time since I was a kid" and Ed echoing "Long time since I was a pony"

Is there a more absolute defintion of empathy than that???

And FOX is going to in ANY way understand that essential NECESSITY of the charachters with mostly NASTY Sherman Hlemsley as the voice of ED?

Rocky Lane may have been on the skids from the B westerns.... but even anything else he ever did he was BORN to be ED.

And the odd thing was he finally realized that and wanted credit finally... but the producers said no to late we like...

MR ED...... Himself in the credits.

Thnough he has finally gotten that at least on Satellite program info screens.... even if not credited on the show.

And likely from those still remaining from the original.... Maybe just Wilbur himself... this person should be known... whoever glad TVLAND is finally giving Rockly (even LONG after his death (before ED even I think or close) credit

Though it mentrions Rocky Lane.... still no character association.

But Wilbur, wife and WHO else?

I know as a kid I probably saw some of his serials on TV... but he was so PERFECTYLY MR ED

And while he was slow to warm to it and just before his passing I think likely he would be VERY proud of that.

Like most of us wouldn't have liked to say most of what ED did?

I now have a getting towards 3 and not a puppy anymore dog.... that I really connect with.... but Damn I wish he could be ED and have that true communication!!!

Lightbulb The NEW Mr. Ed

this was proposed 15 years ago, and never happened. I DID love Dinosaurs, and found the last episode to be idiotic--WHAT were they thinking of? Ending EVERYTHING, causing the global warming/whatever that killed dinosaurs--what were they going to do, if some other network picked it up?
Mr. Ed worked, due to the talents on Alan Young. He really made you BELIEVE that a horse could talk! I REALLY appreciated him MORE, after having seen him in The Time Machine, and other of his movies. And yes, that special thing, that you all mentioned.
When I was a kid, watching this for the first time, we were in a neighborhood with horses. We even lived a few streets away from a local TV cowboy, with his own show, where the kids gathered around, while he sang: Hec Harper, with his horse, Jody. At the time, because of Mr. Ed, I thought ALL horses could talk! After the episode, where the little boy ran away, and hid in Ed's stall, and Ed helped him out, I decided to run away--to talk to Jody! My folks didn't know that I was gone--I ended up running away in my stocking feet. This couple picked me up, and deposited me at the Harper home. I REALLY wanted to talk to JODY the horse, NOT the Harpers!
Clueless Hec bounced me on his knee, after having fed me a WHOLE glass of milk--and I was in a hurry to urinate; but being only 2˝, didn't know the words. I knew "pi-ss" but was told it was impolite. I knew the word "log" for #2--but Hec didn't understand that, either. I ended up finally remembering the word: "bathroom!" Which was pointed out to me.
Yeah, too late.
I was crawling to the bathroom, trying not to spill, when Hec picks me up, under the arms--and the urine just SPILLS!
"MY RUG!" says Mrs. Harper. MAN!
They end up calling the cops, who take me back to my house.
Never did get to talk to Jody, privately. I'd left my bandana scarf behind--which got mixed up with Hec's own--so I had to go retrieve it--I ended up with a duplicate, one of Hec's.

This hurt me, at the time. I was embarrassed, for years. My folks made me embarrassed about any time being unable to hold my urine. With all the prevelance, these days, of Tv commercials for products related to this, I hope other kids don't have to be likewise excruciated.
I can hold it, THESE days, mind you.

I think this is just plain ridciulous. Producers have tried for decades to "recreate history" and they have failed every time. It is time that people grow up and realize that one cannot just bring back an old classic TV show and expect it to have the charm of the original series.

Default why

i loved mister ed only from 1961 - 1966 with allan young and allan rocky lane, connie hines, larry keating and arthur lubin(the producer). why do they have to make the new mister ed with sherman being the voice. another garbage new show. not only that, they are making a new garbage show out of a great classic show of the 60s.
as usual, all the new show thar been coming on since 1997 are total garbage with horrible scripts, the new mister ed will be a waste, they will come up with such horrible scripts, they will probably give the horse ghetto lines and act ghetto.

Default So bets on 2005-6

Hopefully someone came to their senses and realized this would be a very stupid idea and a miserable failure.
