I'm still on the fence on this set. Is this with or without the laugh track?

Actually, that's only half true. Some episodes have the laugh track and some don't. I read about it on another site and just sampled the set I bought. I heard the laugh track on the first three episodes but not the fourth.

I got the DVD set today. Yes, some episodes seem to have the laugh track and some don't. But only a couple have the laugh track that is louder. Most of the episodes, just like the later episodes, have the softer laugh track.

"The Flintstone Flyer," for example has a the loudest laugh track of any episode I've ever seen. But that was the first episode that was ever aired and the production crew probably thought that should quiet it down a bit. (I personally think the laugh track makes this episode even funnier.)

The DVD extras were pretty cool. It was nice seeing the actual faces of Alan Reed (Fred), Jean Vander Pyl (Wilma), Mel Blanc (Barney) and Bea Benadaret (Betty.)

The coolest extra has to be the clip of "The Flagstones," pilot that was tested before the title was changed to the Flintstones. The color quality is kind of off, the background music sounds like the kind of background music you heard in 50's and 60's movies. Betty looks nothing like herself with her hair up in a bun like Wilma, and she had a completely different voice (June Foray), Fred had a different voice as well, certainly not Alan Reed. The scene is from the episode "The Swimming Pool" where Wilma takes lunch out to Fred in the pool and Barney walks in with his spear fishing outfit and deflates Fred's raft.

They also had a couple of commercials from the 60's. Not very creative, they all pretty much showed scenes from the opening sequence (Rise and Shine) with Fred asking where his vitamins were? The black and white Winston cigarette comerical was not included. I guess they don't want anybody seeing Fred, Wilma and Barney smoking. I thought they might show some of the fruity pebbles commercials as well, but those weren't produced until the 1980's, so I guess that's why they aren't included.

I'm glad I got this set, it's very nice. I wish there could have been more extras, but all in all, a very nice set to have for any Flintstones fanatic.
