Default Thoughts on Season 7?

What is everyone's thoughts on season 7?

It seems to stray closer to seasons 8 and 9 than to 3-6 to me. I think the first half was OK, but still not nearly as good as 3-6 and then the second half had some mediocre episodes. Though there wasn't anything really, really bad like seasons 8-9.

To me, seasons 6 and 7 are OK, but nowhere near as good as the show was at its peak, during seasons 3 and 4. First of all, the cast is too big, and we get fewer stories revolving around the core family. Second, Sarah Chalke as Becky has no chemistry with the rest of the cast, particularly Darlene. It's like a stranger joined the family. Third, the show seems to be more concerned with being outrageous and pushing the envelope (D.J. is masturbating in the bathroom; Roseanne visits a gay bar; Jackie's boyfriend is beating her; Dan pushes David around after learning he was living with Darlene) than it is with being funny. And lastly, the show loses a lot of warmth in these later years. Roseanne herself is much harsher and Jackie is much more neurotic. Also, we lose the warmth of characters like Crystal and Bonnie, and in their place, we get nasty Leon and neurotic, bizarre, and unfunny Nancy (who for some reason thinks she's really attractive -- not!).

I read in an interview with John Goodman that about half way through the 7th season that his he thought his character was starting to get a little stale, because he just didn't know what to do with him anymore. And when aksed about why he wasn't in the 9th season so much, he replied:

"Well, Dan Conner was dead!"

This brings me to a couple of questions. (Sorry, should have probably started a new thread for this, BUT)

Did the cast (or at least Goodman) know that Dan Conner actually DID die of his heart attack prior to the final episode?

AND

Do you think that John Goodman didn't like what Roseanne did to his character? He says that if Roseanne were to call him up for some kind of reunion that he'd be there in a second (I so badly want to see "Conner Family Reunion" from The Roseanne Show!!!) but still, do you think that he may have really hated that?
