Guys,
This is just my interpretation and this reasoning is trickey because Reed's friend Tam Spiva was the script editor for that episode. Any Brady Bunch episodes with Tam Spiva as a script editor are among the best because we know that Reed and he (Tam Spiva is a man.) worked on the scripts. "Goodbye Alice, Hello" is certainly one of the most emotional Brady Bunch episodes ever done! I remember watching it in the 70's and crying and going to school the next day, and some girl told us that she had talked to her friend and her friend asked why she was so upset yesterday, and the girl said, "Oh I was just watching The Brady Bunch and crying!!! (LOL!) We thought that was pretty funny! But the story and script is good! Maybe Reed felt...."Well, most housekeepers don't get too involved with the family." However, that is incorperated into the script when Kay takes the job. Maybe Reed talked to Mr. Spiva and they just decided that he wasn't needed for this episode. What do you think? Jack |

Alice wasn't just a housekeeper. She was a member of the family. This is acually a pretty decent episode, so I don't see why Reed would object to it, if he did. Maybe he just didn't feel like working when it was shot and took a little vacation.

I felt sorry for Alice in that episode. She was in a no-win, lose-lose situation about Peter breaking the lamp in Mike's den with the frisby. She told Greg and Peter she would not tell their parents what they did. On the other hand, when Carol put pressure on Alice to tell her exactly what happened, she had to tell Carol the truth. Alice had to make a hard decision. She had to decide, "Do I keep my mouth shut and lie to Carol and get her mad at me or do I tell her the truth about the lamp and get the boys upset at me?" The same with Marcia about leaving the record player on all night. Carol should have overlooked what they did and not taken away their allowances. When Carol took the kids' allowances away, that gave the kids something to blame Alice for doing? Those kids were mean to her. I'm just glad they apologized to her when they went to the restraunt to she worked at to see her and Alice retured to again be the Brady's housekeeper.

You could really see the hurt in Alice's face when the kids were talking bad about her.
And what was up with Carol, did she have PMS that day? She sure was in a bad mood! |
