I was just about to post the exact same think. This was my first time with the episode too and I loved it.
The good: - Weber was hilarious as a gay guy. Much better than I was expecting - Not usually a Stevie fan (I know I'm in the minority there) but he was excellent in this episode. - Cherie was excellent in limited time. Not great: - Patrick came off as a little whiner IMO. He was acting more gay than the gay guy half the time!! Suck it up!!! - I know Patrick is a teacher but the school scenes have to go. They really annoy me. Off topic: - Anyone else glad to see a episode not dealing with the Oscars? I'm so glad that storyline is over....it really got old for me about 3 weeks ago. |

Stevie was absolutely hystercial in this episode. Him and Ramon had me in stiches. Weber was quite impressive as a guy dude. Overall, my favorite one of the year. And yes, I'm glad the oscar stuff is over as well.

Having seen this episode for the second time, I noticed something pretty subtle. In one scene, someone in the background is wearing a "Cheers" jakcet. "Cheers" begat "Wings" - "Cheers" set in an airport - which starred Steven Weber.
This episode was just as funny the second time around!

Having seen this episode for the umpteenth time from my original recording, it doesn't feel quite as fresh to me anymore. When you watch something over and over, that tends to happen. But my opinion is the same. Steven Weber is just delightful as a gay man.
![]() Don't you love the over-the-top, masculine act he puts on with the girl in the studio? "Check, check. Check, check." Then as she walks away, "Check it out!" I always laugh when he looks around, sees that no one is watching him, and then shrugs. ![]() I think Stevie stole the episode. All his comments brimming with innuendo when he was oblivious to Kyle's sexual orientation. Does it get better than that? Right up there with Peter Dinklage and Cybill Shephard. Doesn't matter how many times I watch those scenes. They're great every time. Personally, I appreciate it when they take us to Patrick's school. They show Alex on the set of her movies; it's only fair that Patrick gets time on his turf, too. It brings a certain balance to the show, and it works for me. Scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 7. Weber was awesome, Stevie was a riot, and I dig it when Alex and Patrick's relationship endures a little test. Even though this wasn't a serious one, the whole thing being a sham and all. (Watch for bigger, vastly more serious ones coming soon.) Rank may have been higher had this been my first time seeing it. As I mentioned above, when you watch something time and again, it tends to wear a little on you. I may take minority status now, but I really enjoyed the Oscar storyline. The buildup was terrific, and the payoff was great. Made for some beautiful moments of tenderness between Alex and Patrick, along with some excellent dramatic tones. Assuming the show goes on for a few years, I wonder how many times they're going to incorporate the Academy Awards. I wonder if they're ever going to skew reality and have Alex win. I think it would be wonderful if they did. |

Sapphire,
I didnt have a problem with the Oscar storyline in itself....just think it went on about 2 episodes too long. |
