Thumbs up Happy Days - DVD Announcement expected soon!

Just saw this on the digital bits.com:

Also, soon to be announced by Paramount are first season DVD box sets of Happy Days, Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley. Look for those Summer 2004.

Could it be? Now, don't get your hopes up too high, but do keep your fingers crossed!!

Laverne and Shirley is definitely coming out. I hope it's true but I think I'm going to take this with a grain of salt when it comes to Happy Days and Mork & Mindy. If I hear it from tvshowsondvd.com, I'd be more inclined to believe it.

TVShowsonDVD.com announced a few months ago that all three series will be on DVD sometime soon (they were mentioned at a TV on DVD Conference), but yes, Laverne & Shirley was officially announced by DavisDVD.com

Was that the Paramount conference that was held last fall?

You may be right, Chad. I read the Warner Bros chat last night and didn't read one thing about these three shows. I didn't know the license was owned by Paramount. I thought it was owned by WB. Guess not. and if it would be coming out this summer wouldn't TVShowsonDVD be posting more about it? Like specs, press release, DVD art and release dates?

All three shows are owned by Paramount. Warner Bros. has nothing to do at all with these three shows.

Expect something from TVShowsOnDVD.com soon. Possibly by next month or so, for a late summer release I believe.

Keep in mind that one of the reasons it takes so long is that they have to track down all of the original elements in their vaults and studios are notorious for poor storage and mislabeling of reels.

Also, once the master reels are found they have to determine what condition they're in and how much work is needed in terms of restoration, etc.

Then the restoration process begins and then they have to be transferred to digital and remastered.

Whew!

I hope they can get both Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley Season 2 DVDs out by Christmas.

Being they were both mid season replacements (season 1 being 16 & 15 episodes resepectively), their first Christmas episodes did not appear until the second season.

So hopefully if we get Season 1 by August we can get Season 2 by December.

Just hopeful thinking.

If they can release Happy Days without altering the music.... then there's a possibility Wonder Years can be released.. I don't know if you care to hear that but... you know.

The fact that it took them this long does not bode well for season two coming out so quickly. But you never know.

Whether or not season two comes out at all will depend on how well Season One sells. If it sells well - which I think it will - then you'll see season two sometime soon.

They've managed to get two seasons of M*A*S*H out every year, so there's always hope.
