Did anyone watch the three-part series with Betty White? It was a murder trial is Sloan's hometown. Patrick Dempsey was the suspect. Total surprise ending!!!

Isaw the first two episodes with Betty White, but I missed the ending...guilty or not guilty? What was the big shocker? I thought Spader was brilliant.

SPOILER BELOW It didn't surprise me at all because they kept going back to that stupid treehouse several times per episode and talking about the 'secret compartment'- and that was where what's-his-name's friend was arrested . Still, in this age of electronic stud detectors being able to find tiny nails through several inches of sheetrock, it's surprising the police didn't go over that treehouse in search of the murder weapon! I disliked this 3-parter VERY much- as Spader's strategy was to trash every other person in town to get his friend off and even the firm itself seemed to be nothing more than wallpaper (what had happened with getting Jimmy Berlutti on the team? He was NEVER used in the courtroom!)!. Also I wished someone had called Betty White's character on her 'I'm a Christian' remark as an appearent explanation for her despicable acts and attitude. Consider that and the priest getting trashed (and being made a red herring) by Spader for having had intimate relations with the adult woman victim. .and one has to wonder if they could have possibly worked any harder to make an anti-Christian propoganda piece? The ONLY good part of these 3-parter was when Eugene told Ellenor that Spader was GONE after this.. .but I have the feeling that they're gonna do nothing with that. Also, after her zillionth 'but he's my friend' plea from her, I wish Eugene had told her 'You're a great lawyer and a fantastic asset to this firm but when it comes to picking friends and having bat sense about people, you SUCK!' (as virtually every friend she's had on this series has come to her to bail them out and either been guilty or an accomplice of the crime they were accused). |

I'll grant it was kinda intriguing seeing Betty play Sue Ann Nivens in Rose Nyland's clothing here- and I actually JOINED her in booing the verdict (as it turns out, we were right)!

I was very shocked by the ending. I couldn't believe Patrick Dempsey lied to James Spader about he didn't kill that woman after James stuck his neck out on the line for him. If James leaves this show cause of what Eugene said, the show is gonna be lame cause James makes the show exciting. I thought James was trippin when he asked Patrick's mother was she in love with him. LOL@James telling the courtroom that he had sex with Patrick's mother a few times. James is somethin else.
