Default Do you know the name?

Hi. I just can`t remember the name of an english sitcom that I loved to watch some years ago(around 98/99-but not sure when it was first broadcasted). It was about an english couple (around their retirement), the old bald man was so funny and very, very grumpy (his main characteristic) about everything and everybody. I remember that in the credits there was a turtle walking. Anybody can help me finding it out the name?? And do they still show it somewhere? Thanks!!!

Greetings from New Zealand

The programme you are referring to was called 'One Foot In The Grave'. It starred Richard Wilson (as Victor Meldrew) and Annette Crosbie (as his wife, Margaret). There were 42 episodes, screened by BBC1 in the UK, between 1990-97 and 2000. The couple in fact were played by a couple of Scottish actors, not English! The theme song was sung by ex-Python, Eric Idle. At it's peak, the programme attracted over 20 million viewers in the UK, which is excellent figures. The episodes are available on video.

I hope this helps you.

Arrow To Brisomboy

Thank you so much Brisomboy for the information! It was driving me nuts not to remember the title for One Foot in The Grave. I just loved that grumpy old man!!!
I used to watch it in Brazil but now in the States I think they don`t show anymore. (If anyone someday knows about the show in US please let me know!).
But thanks to you I found the homepage for the show and other information. I`m thinking about getting the tapes or DVD but I`m not sure if the system will be the same as here, have to look around.

Thanks again, (you live in such a beautiful country!)
Take care!

I had a similar problem figuring out this show about 6 months ago. The show hasn't been on since (where I live), though I did rent a tape with 3 episodes on it.

Ooh! I love "One Foot in the Grave"!! What I can't believe is that Cosby (the latest Bill Cosby show) was supposed to be based on that show. They're so different! Plus - nobody can beat the original.
